It took me just 1 nite to remember why I cant bet on this league. I cant stomach the (lack of) effort that goes on on a nightly basis.

You cant play moneylines because double digit dogs lose constantly. 39 times last yr, to be exact, did a 10+ pt favorite lose outright.

You also need to be weary about teasing up the teams who are big dogs, because depending on back to backs and such, teams just mail in 2nd halfs and lose by 25+.

I chose to just stay away altogether, and wait for college hoops where every game matters and the effort is at least there. All you can really ask for is for teams to play hard. In the NBA, consistent effort is usually the last thing you get.

I haven't bet an NBA game in 5 years, it's so full of shit.
Refs are on the take, prima-donnas showing up when they want to show up, etc. etc. etc.

Wager at your own risk is my advice.

NCAA obviously presents the more consistent advantage play

But there are some nice dogs that hit in the NBA

You should never discount one league in favor of the other. Everything is worth a look, every day.

It is not possible to handicap the NBA. Trying to handicap a bunch of undisciplined, uncoachable streetballers is virtually impossible.

I didnt bet anything tonite. I chose to just observe. My customary 10 pt hoops teaser (which work great in college) wouldve lost on Milwaukee +17.5.

Were down 2 at the half, decided to play with their testicles in the 2nd half in route to getting down by 29 in the 3rd quarter before BS'ing their way back to a 19-pt loss.

I noticed the Sea-Den game was nip and tuck for 3.5 quarters. Somehow in the last 6 mins Denver managed to turn a 3-pt lead into a 25 pt lead, before winning by 17-19 or whatever it was.

The extreme runs that go in the NBA illustrate the lack of defense and effort that are customary on a nightly basis. The players just dont play hard for 48 mins, they only play hard in spurts. It is maddening to watch. If the teams played hard every nite, no game between comparable teams would be decided by less than 17-20 pts and the best teams would never lose at home to the Bobcats.

The NBA sucks.

Thank god for B-Ball! Atleast if you take a bad beat, you can always chase and win it back the next day. I bet pretty liberal on the NBA until after the allstar break though, that's when you know they're playing forreal.

I get tired of the they arn't trying line. It's never brought up in other sports, but it is in the NBA for some reason. How for instance can you tell if a baseball player is trying, or a hockey player is trying. You lost your bet, live with it, its gambling.

Couldn't disagree more. NBA is not harder than any other sport to handicap. I would think baseball is the hardest to cap.

I would have agreed but I won more at my first yr at MLB than I would have ever guessed?

I believe you just have to learn to be very good at picking your spots. Last night SA wins but doesn't cover at Memphis.

Houston wins but doesn't cover at LAL.

Tonight, Utah wins and covers! I think a good spot.

Good Luck NOW! :103631605

Basketball is very beatable. I try not to play any games until a couple of weeks in but I just loved Memphis +5.5 last night and had to play it. These guys try. I play basketball and know how you can go from shooting well and playing D well, to just plain sucking for no reason. If you never play sports you would have not idea what I'm talking about. It happens in every sport it is just more noticable in basketball because it is non stop action. Like people said, a 3 point lead can turn into a 15 point lead if you go through a 4 minute drought. Now as for the refs, I fully believe that more then just one is taking action on these games. This game more then any other is controlled by the refs. That does not mean that you can't beat the NBA. Just choose your games wisely and you'll be fine.

the Over/Unders in the NBA are painful to watch.5 minutes into the Seattle/Denver game I was cursing myself for betting under 217.Nobody gets back on defense. Its like each team lets the other team have a layup so they can set up their own fast break.

Agree. I can't stand the NBA. Quite possibly the worlds greatest athletes performing in what can be argued to not even be legitimate competition with the obvious biased officiating and evidence of fixed games.

if you are a bettor that MUST watch/track the score the whole game when he has action on it, it'll be too stressful for you. Unless it's the Rockets I'll tune in toward the end of the 4th. and some will say you should never tease bball

The NBA folded a few years ago. I forget what year. I think it was replaced by the WNBA.

I agree with the last 2 minute idea. I was really into the NBA until about 1996. Since then I rarely if ever watch it. Watching the NBA is boring. Few good shooters anymore, everything watch me and dunks. Way to many fouls that slow the game down. IMO I like the college game much more.
