I dont remember in the book (and I could be wrong) where he says he quit betting. There are also quite a few other syndicate type computer groups out there betting big amounts.

It could be the case that he knew the books was going to be published and he was going to be identified so he took a break. The problem is that when you live for the high of watching a football game with more money on the game than people make in a year there isnt' alot you can do to replace it.

He may have taken some time off to think of new ways to cover his identity.

heard he screwed the members at Desert Pines GC in Vegas....took course over and screwed the members out of tee times. Word is he pimps Desert Pines (2nd rate course) to the concierges (they get to play for free) and they send the tourists out there at outragous rates. I did play Stallion Mountain for like $35 and did enjoy it though....
