sold.. whats the differnece between the solo and the AV? and why would you need to watch 4 tvs? have on 4 differnet games? coulnd't you just change the channel
I think the solo is HD compatible and the AV is not. I got the PRO and love it. Don't know about the 4 TVs. I think it is so you could also control your DVD player, etc. I bought a "slinglink" which allows uou to have your wireless internet connection in a different room than the slingbox and cable/satelite receiver - it has four connections in case you want to also hook up your game system and whatever else you need to connect to the internet.
Best bet is to set it up in a guest room or with whichever TV you use least. If I am watching my home TV through the slingbox at work (use extended desktop so my monitor has my work stuff and the laptop has TV) - my wife can't be watching that same TV unless she wants to watch excatly what I am watching.
Other things I love:
When you launch the slinbox player from your laptop - an image of your actual remote control comes up next to the screen and you can pause games, record, watch recorded events - whatever you could normally do.
The player optomizes the picture based on the speed of your internet connection -- mine is a bit blotchy, but fine at work (except after hours or early morning when all my lazy coworkers aren't here), but super sharp at home, airports, strabucks, etc.
You really can watch stuff on your pda or phone. This is how I got sold. I am at a wedding rehearsal dinner party with my wife and I know just about noone, so I start talking to this guy and see that he is watching a Friday night boise state game on his TREO, with great quality...I bought my slingbox within 12 hours.
The shit sandwhich is I have a blackberry 880 and slingbox only works on windows based mobile phones right now...apparently they are working on t. I can use my 880 as a modem for my laptop just anywhere sprint has coverage, so I have used my blackberry and laptop to have a game on in the car rolling on the freeway!
