Customer customer for well over fours years, with only one upgrade about two years ago.

I'm looking to upgrade to the HDTV package. Any special offers to existing customers? In other words, are there any offers that can be given to current customers that aren't advertised?

Thanks,

WC

They don't offer crap. I had reception problems for hell for months (2 tech visits worth). I threatened to dump they & couldn't have cared less.

They finally figured out that something in my receiver had gone to shit.

Will, here is what I did, I wanted to move to HD as well but to get the HD box it was 100 bucks and the hd/dvr was 300. Well I wasn't about to pay 100 bucks for something I didnt even get to keep.

I called and told them I wanted to cancel, of course they asked why. I said the cable co gives the HD box for free and then you pay their monthly fee. The guy asked if I would stay if they gave me an HD box, I said yes, they hooked it up and I have been happy ever since.

They do a free install for the additional satellite you'll need but you have to pay for the HD receiver and the HD package which is a monthly fee. Like has been said in the past, if you are a good customer and threaten to cancel, they'll likely hook you up.

I'm looking to go HD very soon myself. Last time I talked to them was 2 months ago. They were willing to give me a DVR recorder which I would own that is 300 with a 100 instant rebate it would be 200 for a HD DVD recorder/reciever.

I thought that was pretty sweet, I'm definatly headed that way. I can think of tons of stuff that I would like to record that I normally miss, the fact I am recording it in HD makes it that much better.

I didnt have to pay for the new satellite or the new receiver. Of course I do pay the HD charge per month which is WELL worth it. BTW they also installed for free, but I did have to wait like a week and a half.

BTW, same thing with me rob, I just took the DVR I already have and moved it too bedroom where I like to watch taped shows anyways. Now the living room has the HD box. BTW, the sooner you get to HD the better, its blown me away, of course the brand new TV I bought to go with it doesn't hurt, lol

DTV also added like 100 new HD channels in the last month... almost everything is in HD now. Cept those damn Boise St games on the local channels. Grr.

It's killing me. I need to get moving on it. My bro and my dad are taking jabs at me. The flat screen with the s-video cable isnt cutting the mustard anymore.

It's really stupid that I have DTV which is so awesome for Hi-Def and I am not taking advantage of it.

Yep, thats what pushed me. I had a normal big screen that was HD ready but never pulled the plug. Then got an awsome flat screen mounted on the wall, 1080 and the first thing I did was get HD.

Just don't ever order NFL ticket through them, they won't cancel it no matter how many times you try..

I have heard once you get the ticket they REALLY want you too keep it. Enough to throw all types of stuff at you, including the DVR/HD box and a reduced rate

The whole deal with the NFL Sunday Ticket is that they include a little memo on your bill each year letting you know it will renew because you have to cancel it at a certain time for it to be removed properly on the computer systems if I remember correctly. It's a pain in the ass but my question is...

Why the hell would you want to cancel NFL Sunday Ticket?

That's just blasphemy.

Its their flagship, the main reason people choose DTV over Dish I would imagine, plus you know they are paying out of their ass for the exclusive rights, so they NEED as many customers as they can get.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but how does DISH stand vs. DTV today?

My options here in my city are COX and COX.

DirecTV has the edge in HD currently but I'd expect Dish to catch up soon.

The costs are pretty much the exact same.

DTV has some sports packages (like NFL Sunday Ticket) that Dish does not have.

Both have the digital picture quality that you have to pay more for from cable alot of times.

Tons of channels on both, more than any cable package I've ever seen.

I love DirecTV because of the HD and Sunday Ticket personally.

Dish is okay though. DTV seems harder to get ahold of someone on the phone but the customer service I've gotten from them is much better than Dish's IMO.

You are locked in Robby. No cancellin that sumbitch after the fact.

Threaten to cancel all your services if you want the free HD box... you'll get transferred to the folks who are only responsible for retaining customers and they love to give free stuff away to keep you happy.
