condo has wasteful maintenance fees.

you only own from inside the walls. condo is a glorified apartment.

A home is a home is a home. Get a yard, privacy, and enjoy some super deals out there.

Townhouse might be best for you in the Western Burbs. Just don't move to close to me and ruin the neighborhood.

Depends on what ya like.

As a single dude you may not want to cut grass, keep up flower beds, pressure wash driveways, etc.

Find something you like in any of the three and enjoy life.

depending on the suburbs... i'm in a townhouse and they are supposed to shovel sidewalks after 3 inches of snow and they do plowing, grass, and leafs.. its 240 a month in assessments..

if your single I don't think you need a house.. start w/ something small and move up eventually..
my advice, from trying to break into the real estate appraisal biz.. don't go partners with anyone and fix up a place while living in it..

lotsa ruined friendships, accusations etc.. just my two cents

Unless money is no problem renting to me is just throwing money away each month. Get you a double wide and then you can move whenever you want!

rent and wait. unless you're hellbent on owning your own place now it is best to wait. the real estate market is going nowhere but down in the next 12-24 months.
