Wil's post in the Brady radio thread got me thinking. What if this year's superbowl was pay per view only? How much would they bring in? How many households across the globe would be willing to fork out say $50 to watch the superbowl featuring New England vs Green Bay? Imagine a commercial free superbowl.

No thanks, I love the commercials. I would pay it if I had to but that would be bogus if they ever considered doing that

Going pay per view may happen someday and this year you might get record numbers purchasing it. Think about a Super Bowl where say, my team, the Seattle Seahawks make it to the game, who in the fuck wants to watch that team?

I'd watch the ****** on Sopcast or channelsurfing. It's usually a lousy game anyway. Only reason to bet are the innumerable props the bookies inevitably fuck up on.

We would all hate it just like you and would also purchase it or watch it where it was purchased. 2.5 million per commercial spot would be easy to surpass. They would probably sell this to 50 million households which would generate $2,500,000,000

probably true, but it would end up killing the game on other levels. the league would lose the 'casual fan' as well as a ton of money throughout the year in regular season ticket sales, merchandise, and stuff like that. right now the nfl is the only sport that truly appeals to all demographics. but going to PPV would be a major hit for the league throughout the other 364 days

Yeah I think it would be a horrible idea overall. Many households in the inner cities or anywhere are struggling everyday to get enough food on the table and clothes on their backs. Making them pay $50 for a football game would be uncalled for in my opinion.
