have the worst field in the nation? They let high schools and Pitt college host games on this field and it looks like the shittiest thing in pro sports. Add in the extreme weather conditions they get and it has to be a turf managers nightmare to try and keep it in any kind of playing shape. That turf manager has to be highest paid in industry! Players can't be too happy either.
they should put a heating system under the grass so they could monitor the soil temp and keep the grass in good shape. I'm assuming they use kentucky blue grass up there. If they can maintain a soil temp of 55 degrees or higher they could keep the field from freezing and it would look much less beat up all the time.
I guarantee there is a heating system under the field already. That's not the problem. There is just way too much traffic on it. Too many games. If they are resodding as RacerX points out...that still won't help much in the short term. A newly sodded field is still a bitch to play on.
Gotta be worst field in professional sports.
