It can happen. No way is this a forgone conclusion as some think. Anything can happen. Pats defense looked like swiss cheese. A few injuries are not helping. Long way to go!

The trouble is or I guess to there advantage who else on the remaining schedule has the tools to beat them...Pittsburgh maybe but they have their own holes.

Go medium keep the ball in the middle. Thats when the Eagles seemed to be able to move it. It's almost as if Bill banks on those dumb go route trys.

not sure why some felt/still feel its preposterous to think pittsburgh can beat new england in a few weeks.

its obvious the pats are the best team in the league. but they arent so far ahead of indy, pittsburgh, and dallas that they can just show up, kick the ball off and win.

philly laid the blueprint for how to beat them.

the close call will be good for the pats and it will keep them focused. but it also serves as proof that they are certainly beatable. this is the national football league.

even if philadelphia would have won the game last night, it wouldnt have been an earth shattering upset, regardless of what the betting line was.

no reason to think the pats arent still 7-10 points better than the rest of the league in a vacuum. but the defense has been mediocre all season and yesterday proved that. the scary thing is that the offense was 'off' and they still scored 30. thats why its going to take an absolutely clean game to beat them.

<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->not nerdy at all. i appreciate the info. what new england is doing is good for the league. but teams like jacksonville, cleveland, and detroit deserve some TV time more than a garbage philly team does against new england. everyone knows the pats are friggin good. but there are good stories elsewhere too.
i didnt know about the league mandate so i certainly appreciate that info

Do you still think Philly is a garbage team, or did they lay the blueprint like you said in the post above, sometimes you confuse the shit out of me.

youre a good poster. you shouldnt be confused by anything.

philly is not a great football team. theyre the definition of mediocre. and yet they were capable of taking the patriots to the wire. that is nfl football in a nutshell. nothing is a given in professional football.

a very mediocre team was able to gameplan and lay the blueprint for how to beat new england.

unfortunately, they didnt have the weapons to finish the job. they laid the blueprint. they just werent good enough to get it done.

again, im not sure what was so confusing. good gameplan. not enough weapons

I was confused about the part of is Philly a garbage team or a mediocre team. I do agree they do not have enough weapons to compete with the elite. How do you feel about tonights match up, sort of the same situation, a really bad team vs a team that is in the upper tier, however, like you said nfl and anything can happen. I watched Beck last week and he looked like a deer in the head lights the entire game.

while i have a great amount of respect for pittsburgh, i still think this line is way too high. unfortunately, i dont have the same confidence in miami's staff to come prepared the way philly was prepared. obviously, as my feelings before the neng/philly game showed, i didnt expect philly to be able to compete. but im not surprised that reid brought his team in ready to play. thats a credit to their coaches because philly is mediocre and shouldnt have been able to drop nearly 30 on the pats. but, again, thats the nfl nowadays. im leaning miami tonight but will probably sit it out.

Their offense was off a little in the 2nd half but wasn't totally off ... they had three first half possessions and scored 2 TD's and a FG ... and scored on an INT and we're still only up by 3 ... hardly the offense's fault.

The key for Philly is Westbrook .. there is no other player in the NFL as versatile as he is ... he is a matchup nightmare ... the saving grace is that nobody else has him.

Most overblown cliche I've heard on this game so far.No disrespect.
They didn't get beat.Philly competed thats it.
You have to have the personal to execute the blueprint.
This was Philly GOY. It was one of the least important games on the schedule for the Pats.No diss to Eagles, the linemakers did that.
Belichick will have the teams attention the rest of the way especially the D.

No disrespect to the Pats, but you think all they have to do is step on the field. Players are human and I don't believe for a minute this game will make the D any better. Every game the rest of the year will be that team's GOY, except Pittsburgh since they will be in the playoffs anyhow.

A coach can lay a blueprint on how to win, the Pats adjusted and the Eagles didn't have the guns.

To use that blueprint, other teams better find a way to sign Westbrook ... and find DB's like Brian Dawkins ... just because Philly is a mediocre team record-wise doesn't mean they have mediocre players.

The blueprint starts when you DRAFT players ... last year, New England realized they needed to do something new to beat Indy ... and it started when they SIGNED players ... not with the game-plan.

Willie Parker is the AFC version of Westbrook.

The Eagles had the guns ... they didn't have enough bullets ... Brian Dawkins and Westbrook are two of the best players in the NFL ... they have solid DB's ... they just lost a close game.

The main point is that just because Philly did it doesn't mean other teams can do it ... because other team don't have Cole, Dawkins and Westbrook ... and they don't have Philly's coaches.

He is NOT EVEN CLOSE to Westbrook ... not even close.

LT and Westbrook are in a class by themselves. I would trade ANY player on New England (except Brady) for Westbrook ...

You must be a Steelers fan excusing them if the Pats kick their ass.

He doesn't have to be as good as Westbrook for Pittsburgh to beat NE either. Pitt is better across the board than Philly. The key will be the coaching of Pitt.

I'm a Bears fan. Pitt would love to beat NE, but the playoffs are more important to Pitt. If NE kicks their ass, what does it prove? Nothing as they will probably have to beat them in the playoffs too.

Phili's o line did as good a job stopping the Pats D line as I can ever remember. Not much pressure by us. What a job. Also Phili passed as well as anyone has on us too. I have never seen an oline or a team pass like that against us. It was shocking. We still won though but winning all the rest is not automatic.
