This is unreal. The short passing game was going great and you go away from it. Miami has been crowding the line on 2nd and 3rd and short and you are running the ball. Then you try a 44 yarder on 4th and 3????? Whatever.

And this surprises you? (that he is coaching a horrific game) Isn't that the norm with him?

The media loves this guy. I don't think you can down a minority coach in the first years anyway. Lewis with Cincy is just starting to get criticied.

The more I watch this game, the DUMBER that Tomlin looks.

Pittsburgh deserves to the lose with the way this guy is coaching.

This might have been one of the worst coached games in recent history. Tons of terrible decisions. Pittsburgh abandoning the short passing game when it was working great, Miami going for it on 4d 11 and 4d 15, Pittsburgh throwing a PASS on 1d with under 2 mins left when the game could have been iced. The inexplicable running of Parker on 1st downs and short yardage plays with the line stacked.

This is the worst coached Pittsburgh game I've seen in my short life, with Lebeau (as always) being the exception

The offensive play calling has been horrible all season. They need to realize that their strength lies in throwing the ball, not running it. They insist on pounding the ball into the line for 2 yard plunges time and again just for the sake of being a "running team". I could see running that offense if you have Kordell Stewart as your QB, but when you have a franchise QB you have to use him. This offense won't realize it's potential until they start passing more on first and 2nd downs. Use the pass to setup the run, not the other way around

The jury is still out on Tomlin for me. But losing to Cardinals,Jets and Broncos on road would not have happened with Cowher with his team at close to full strength as they were. Steelers were an excellent team , under Cowher, against inferior teams and against anybody on road. He knew how to motivate and get best effort out of them on road with his 'Us against the world' Schtick or whatever he used. Players seemed to really buy it. Cowher wasn't much of an in-game decision coach and neither obviously is Tomlin.

ding ding ding, they have a very good TE in miller and a top ten wr tandem in ward/holmes. ben is a great qb, but they are scared to let him take the reins. though i will say this his audibles today were bad.

Agreed jury is still out. However, I am not over ecstastic with what I've seen, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt....

#1.. I really dont think he does much at all. His assistants and coaches are running the show here. Especially this year.

#2...They are developing a disturbing trend of playing down to the level of their competittion. The Jets game was horrible. Outcoahced and outplayed in all 3 phases of the ball. I wish it wasnt a swamp out thee tonight because I wouldve liked to have seen how they responded to that upset last week tonight. I was at game tonight and I will write this off (although I agree, their play calling was not aggressive and they shouldve lost. They had a alot of success when they spread it out tonight 4-5wide and passed it yet they tried to keep running it.) Under Cowher they usually took care of business vs scrub teams early then just ran out the clokc scoring here or there to cement things. Tomlins team is allowing too many of these teams to hang around and or beat them. That field was the worst I ve ever seen it tonight and I am just mad I didnt bet more on the under!!!

I agree. I blame Arians for the game plans moreso than Tomlin. Though it is on Tomlin to have his team emotionally ready to play - which hasn't been the case at times this year

You hit it right on the head!!! It is Arians who is doing the lousy play calling. As one of the biggest Steeler fans ever I am afraid they will never win anything with Arians calling the plays. Hope I'm wrong but.......
However, it is Tomlin's job to see that his co-ordinators do their jobs well.
