I love that deal as well. Even if Milledge is a headcase, it is nothing but upside for basically two journeymen. They have to make great deals a la Marlins if they are going to compete with that payroll.

I hope to see the new stadium next year, went to RFK this year and ended up leaving early in a downpour. That stadium is a complete joke and even the DC United should be insulted having to play there.

washingtons payroll will be above the middle of the pack in 5 years....but they're going to do it the right way. they wont overspend on fas, they'll almost always include getting a young arm in al their trades, and they'll build from the farm up. they've put a ton of money into their system and they're looking to add another minor league team. as im sure you know, mlb teams can have as many minor league clubs as they want. they have some great talent down in the class a teams and they're building a good young base of talent to for the future.
milledge
willy mo
flores
zimmerman

those are 4 guys i wouldnt be surprised to see on an all-star roster at some point. the new stadium should be great, i cant wait till opening day.

again, what a fucking great deal. how did no one else step in. milledge is 22, give me a break, take a chance and win some games. milledge is much better than church and flores is better than bs.

Mo,
I agree and the Nats/Expos was raped and pillaged and they started from rock bottom. The GM there is doing things the right way and at least I appreciate it. I'm a Marlin fan, but I do like the Nats as they are my semi-local team via relatives and I root for the small market boys.

Just to let you know,
I think posts like these are your strengths along with your recruiting stuff. You are sharp in those areas. Honestly, some of the other stuff turns me off and seems like you are trying to hard. Just my personal opinion and nothing mean spirited about it.

yeah the nats started as poorly as a team really could. they had nothing and then boom, the draft zimmerman and there is a spark. since the bowden has them rolling. even lopez, wagner, kearns...what a fucking rape job that was. those players arent great but for clayton, majewski and bray? give me a break.
a marlins man, well i selected miguel and hanley as two of my top 3 players id like to start a team with. i look forward to seeing what josh johnson looks like next year. the kid throws a heavy ball, i just hope he can get back to 100%. he was one of my fav young arms in the nl 2 seasons ago.

i certainly dont try too hard on the board. i do get bored and sometimes just say whatever comes up in my mind. i dont mean to bother anyone, my mind just races with thoughts and i post a lot. i have a ton of time and i try to keep the posts interesting and in the right forums. i can be a tad immature at times, but when someone has a sports discussion or debate going, i'll be there and bring what ive got. i know plenty about sports, there just arent always many talks going on and i'll venture off into some other topics. i cant please everyone, but i dont mean to offend anyone with any topic.
no offense taken. i would rather be told i was a fucking faggot by someone who honestly believed that than have someone tell me they think im great and not mean it. if you're honest and have some class, i respect you like me or not.

From what I read Josh Johnson is going to be on the shelf for a while, likely all season.
I'm going to pretty much write him off. The two kids I hope can come back are Anibal Sanchez and Ricky Nolasco. For about two months, Sanchez was as good as there was in baseball. Nolasco has sick stuff too, but needs to learn to control it and stay healthy.
Fish have Valdes coming soon and this kid Sinkbeil is gonna be not far off as well.

I'll be in your area next week. Not sure if we are going to get together or not (hockey game was tentative plan). Had some illness in my family, so it threw a few things up for grabs. Hope we can have a mini-bash though as I'm sure you'd enjoy Skins, Juice, DirtyKU, Calvin, Ironman, MrCleo and the rest of the DC boys. We're all just sports lovers and enjoy shooting the shit about it. Of course next time I see Skins, I'm going to tell him how I dunked on Eric Maynor and watch him go ballistic.
