In all fairness Brennan is clearly superior versus Chang. Chang was not really getting looks from the NFL due to his size. He imo is much more of a system QB compared to Brennan from all that I have seen.
Quite frankly Jones is spot on about Tebow as his style of game won't translate to the NFL especially compared to Brennan's. However I know Tebow is capable of stepping up his game, Meyer just needs to let him do so. He in my opinion has kept him on a leash. If he is to make it to the next level & be considered to have a real shot, he will have to show he can play QB in the NFL style.
Ask every scout & GM who is more prepared to be a NFL QB, I guarantee the majority would say Brennan.
I do agree with you that Jones has probably setup for a big ass whooping next year. This is quite dangerous considering he won't have Colt to save him. Hawaii loses Colt & his backup Graunke next year. The next 3 QB's are made up of 1 Sophomore & 2 Freshmen.
I was one of the first Tebow supporters to be extremely adamant about Tebow not being any sort of an NFL prospect.
He doesn't have the quick release, he has a very long arm stroke. He hasnt really had to read many defenses and throw timing routes.
But Tebow has shortened up his arm stroke, and he continues to improve on it.
I thought his accuracy on the deep ball was a short term fluke. But I haven't seen many QBs consistently hit the deep ball the way Tebow does.
The more I watch him, the more I begin to wonder if I am watching someone "redefine" the position. Tebow is an extremely rare and gifted athlete. He's not someone that NFL teams will ignore.
His threat as a runner will translate to the NFL, as he is certainly not undersized and he can play in the man's game. He'll obviously slide as much as possible, but he will be able to be an effective runner and take hits at the next level.
I am not suggesting that Tebow would slide into a west coast offense, or a complex passing offense and be a dropback passer. What I am suggesting is that Tebow is an NFL prospect and will be a success at the next level if the right team drafts him and puts him in the right offense to utilize his abilities.
If he continues to improve his arm stroke, and continues to develop as a passer, I think he has a great chance to succeed at the next level - mainly because he has the X Factor and intangibles. Time will tell.
