The Royals have a ton of money to play with; hell, they still may make a play for Andruw Jones as long as his price stays reasonable.

There's a reason the Royals are always in last.

Great sign by KC. Fits the situation perfectly. They have a lot of money available the next three years so this contract is perfect. They needed a right handed middle of the order bat and they got a good one. Couldn't be happier with this sign. Dayton Moore gets it, even if people on the RX don't.

KC struggled scoring LY.

This guy is capable of driving in 100 runs...so it looks like a good move for a team that needed that kind of bat.

And what would you do to address the lack of a right handed middle of the order bat exactly? Love it when people that don't have a clue about the Royals chime in. Makes them look dumb.

For a team with a payroll in the bottom, 5 of the league, to spend 12 Million on a player who is a little above average is ridiculous

Guillen, hit 24 Homers last year and drove in 100 runs, woopee

Not what i would have spent my money on if i was the KC Gm

Now when Billy Butler and Alex Gordon become Free Agents and you cant sign them, remember that you still have Jose Guillen locked up

I Know you guys have a need for Right handed Hitting, but dont overpay this much for a so so hitter

JK i know they will be FA's after Guillen is expired but they should have gone after someone else with that kind of money

Wow, again someone without a clue. If you read my post, I said the Royals have a lot of money to spend the next THREE years. How in the fuck is this going to affect the ability to sign Butler and Gordon? Yep, it doesn't.

Who else is a better right handed bat than him that is available? Right, that is what I thought.

People are entertaining on here.

The other thing people don't seem to be able to comprehend is that they have to overpay or people won't come there. They just have to be correct on the guys they do it on. Same idiots saying Meche was a terrible sign last year.

Just wait on Meche. Don't let last year make you think he's a #1 or something, the guy is as inconsistent as they come. He'll pitch like a #4 or 5 this year, just watch.

The stuff Meche has is plenty good. Many pitchers learn how to use it the age that he was at when they signed him.

Butler and Gordon are under the Royals control for at least the next 3 years...they will get them at bargain prices.

This just in...

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3140986&name=winter_meetings

3:44 p.m., from Enrique Rojas
• The Royals have expressed interest in Sammy Sosa, according to a source. Sosa has the same agent as Jose Guillen, Adam Katz, and the two sides are trying to determine some financial numbers that make sense.
Slammin' Sammy!

First of all you are the dumbass for not reading my entire post before going on a mini rant and saying how much smarter you are than everyone

I added that i knew Gordon, Butler and Bannister would be free agents AFTER this dumb contract expires

Royalfan, being that you are the only Royal fan, i take it that you can speak for the Royals, Just because a team has a need for something, doesnt mean its smart to overpay for a player, when you can take that 36 million and spend it next offseason

Hope this contract works out better than Mike Sweeneys did, or how about Reggie Sanders! :ohno:

Me too!! Dayton Moore knows what he is doing, he wasn't responsible for those debacles. It isn't 36 million a year either. They still have plenty of money to use next year, but actually they won't have many gaping holes like they did this year. They needed a right handed middle of the order bat desperately and they got one. would have been nice to get him for 9 million a year but the royals are always going to have to overpay slightly.

All in the past. He plays hard, plays for his team, and sticks up for his teammates.

And he drives in runs...something the Royals do not do well.

He will make their lineup better...and they should score more as well.

The Royals have the same problem the Saints use to have.
Players are normally willing to take less money to play somewhere else than play in KC.

I love the talent of Gullien, but I would be very wary of his OTF history.
If you think he was a problem in the past, you can imagine how much of a problem he may be for a team that is out of the playoff picture 2/3rds into the season.

The Royals did well with Meche, and if you you just go off of talent alone, this deal was not too bad.

I like the rotation, and the move they made last season DOTEL for DAVIES.

All of a sudden the Royals have a decent 1-4 rotation with a nice added bat with this move today.

OK peace, just calm down

Anyways, i really really hope you guys dont sing Sosa now

That would be a disaster and i can see a Batting average below .200 with like 18 homers from sammy this year

Off topic, in my fantasy baseball keeper league i have to decide on either Butler or Gordon, who has the better future?
