MLB.com is reporting that the Tigers are set to acquire Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis from the Marlins for Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller and four more prospects.

Rick Porcello is going to be awfully lonely as the only member of Detroit's farm system next year. If true, this puts the Tigers right back among the elite in the AL and further swings the balance of power between the leagues. Detroit will have to hope to find a taker for Brandon Inge, who is owed $18 million over the next three years.

i do not like this move, maybin and miller lot's of upside potential. if cabrera keeps eating the reb beans and rice he'll weigh 300 by spring training.

I disagree. This is a great trade for the tigers. They have Granderson in center and MCab is only 24 and one of the elite hitters in the game.

I have no problem with them getting rid of Maybin. The guy is highly touted and when he did get the chance to play last year he looked like a deer in headlights out there in left field. That would be great to acquire Cabrera and hopefully he could replace Inge at third. Willis not so excited about as we feel he is highly overrated and would stick with Miller instead.

Hell of a lineup, but still lacking bullpen. Zumaya out and who knows if he will ever be the same. He sucked last year and could be a one year wonder. Middle relief lacking. Todd Jones you never know with him, plus he is 40 years of age now.

Starters:

Verlander (R), Bonderman (R), Rogers (L), Robertson (L), and the fifth spot will now probably be Durbin (R)

Lot of question marks with Rogers at his age coming off of surgery and same with Robertson, had a horrible year. Durbin pretty much sucks.

If this trade goes through it will probably make the Tigers a favorite in their division, but I still feel like the offense will have to carry them with very questionable pitching.

i was hoping miguel wold go to a smaller park and break some records, but he should be great in det regardless. he'll win mvps and the tigers will contend. miller is obviously much better than willis, but you've got to give to get.

And Mcab worse case can dh and hit 40+ homers every year.

They already have Shefield at DH. He would have to play 3rd base in place of Inge. I don't like giving away another four prospects, but hopefully they are mid-tier and nobody special. Would love to keep Miller too. He has way more upside than Dontrelle who is way overrated. As previously stated, Maybin is highly touted, but have no problem getting rid of him. His natural position is center and I'd rather keep the more established Granderson around who is only going to get better than he already is.

Yeah, overall I like the deal, but damn, 6 guys for 2? It's too bad they couldn't give away somebody else instead of Miller though, that hurts.

Maybe they can get rid of Inge for some pitching or new prospects to groom in the farms for a few years that will replace Millers talent and upside.

The angels were offering Kendrick and Adenhart plus just for MCAB.

The tigers sent the right amount of players prospects for the talent they recieved.

Inge is not going to net any great amount.

What a trade. Good time for Willis to change leagues. The way the Marlins are acquiring talent, they will win another WS before the Cubs again. :ohno:

You forgot to put Willis in your startig rotation.

I love it - the Yankees are not only getting beaten by Boston at their own game - but now the rest of the league is putting together dream teams while their sitting in the Bronx with a bunch of washed up stars.

Willis is a solid pitcher that is probably the best in the league against lefties - deep in the playoffs - Willis coming in games in situations could be lethal.

willis will get hammered, imo.

i think they got him to play lf over thames more than they did pitch. hes got a better bat than he does an arm.

Yeah I forgot about that. Well you can now throw Durbin to the pen and replace him with Willis. I wonder how they will rank their starting rotation to begin the year.

Probably Robertson in the five slot is a given at least.

It would of been nice for them to package up Bonderman and some guys like Miller and Maybin for Johan Santana. I'm sure Minny would have did that in a heartbeat.

I'd rather have Johan Santana over Cabrera and Willis. Or seeing them chose to not re-sign Todd Jones and make a run at Joe Nathan would of been cool. Maybe they could of acquired Santana and nathan for Bonerman, Miller, maybin and Jones, plus some farmers.

Now you have to think that they will be pressing to get rid of Inge and get some relief pitching help and a back-up catcher. Unless they keep Inge as a back-up catcher, but at those prices for a part-timer, no thanks.

willis has heart but he can't throw below 4.5 era anymore. Cabrera is a stud but he will get slower and slower
