KCAL 9's Gary Miller is reporting that the Dodgers and Andruw Jones have agreed to a two-year, $36 million contract.

MLB.com is also reporting it. Jones would get the same average annual salary as Torii Hunter, so in that sense, it's a victory for agent Scott Boras. He'd also go back on to the market at age 32, which hardly seems like a bad thing if he turns in a couple of productive years. Los Angeles may not the best place for him to pile up numbers, but if the Dodgers just had to move Juan Pierre out of center field, this was pretty much the ideal scenario for the team and player.

I think Andruw Jones is about as overrated as Alfonso Soriano to be honest. Still this may be considered somewhat of a value considering what he would have gotten with a good last year of his old contract.

probably more overrated....certainly as a bat. kemp will put up better numbers next year for much less money, im not sure why some teams feel they need to 'make a splash'. i hope kemp and kershaw come to the Os.

Is that the rumored Bedard trade? I think they can get more personally...

na, right now lad has offered broxton/kemp, but the os want more. kershaw with those two would probably be more than lad would be willing to give, but that would be the ideal move for the Os.

How is Soriano overrated? Pretty good defensively, great arm, great speen on the bases, great power, I really dont get how he can be even considered overrated. The only reason he didnt steal much this year was he was hobbled all season long with hamsting injuries.

IMO he's not a good defender and he kills innings by being a free swinger. His OBP is not great and he goes for the fences too often. The guy has power but he just seems happy to try to hit it out and leave a few guys on if/when he strikes out, which he does all too often.

Glad I'm a Halos fan.

The only thing, so far, that Colletti has not messed up is that he has not traded James Loney or Matt Kemp yet. Nor has he traded Billingsly, Broxton, nor Kershaw.

But shit, the Juan Pierre signing? WTF was that? I have a better arm than Juan Pierre....most of us on here do..lol.

I remember the first Dodgers game this year, Vin Scully was ripping Pierre because the Brewers were going first to third on SINGLES hit straight to Pierre...LOL!

I guess with Jones, Pierre shifts to left and Kemp stays in right. What about Ethier???

Getting Jones now is like buying a 15 year old Cadillac with 150,000 miles on it and a rusted out frame. They are going to the party at least 5 years too late.

A common joke among Dodger fans is: "Juan for Four has gone 1 for 4 in his last 3 games." :lolBIG:

Andrew Jones

Andruw Jones Bio From MLB.com...

If you click on career stats you will notice Andruw Jones never hit over 36 homers in 8 full years in the bigs and all of a sudden in 2005 he hit 51 roundtrippers. Not saying he was juiced, just pointing out the fact that he had a big power surge all of a sudden at a time when there was the possibility that he could have ben exposed to steroids.

A telling factor is in 2004 when Jones hit 29 homers he struck out 35 more times in 16 less at bats. Anyway you look at it his power stats went heywire in 2005 compared to previous years. Since then he has been declining from 41 homers in 2006 to 26 in 2007 while still playing roughly the same amount of baseball each year. Last year his batting ave. dropped to a career low of .222 (OBP a putrid .311). Jones is a lifetime .263 hitter (OBP .342) with 368 homers in 11 full major league seasons (he played in only 31 games with 5 HRs in 1996) all with The Braves..
