The Milwaukee Brewers reached a preliminary agreement on a $10 million, one-year contract with free-agent reliever Eric Gagne, giving the team another option at closer after losing Francisco Cordero to free agency.
Gagne's deal, which is subject to him passing a physical, will allow him to earn an additional $1 million in performance bonuses, a person familiar with the negotiations said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the contract has not been finalized.

General Manager Doug Melvin said the Brewers' interest in Gagne didn't indicate a lack of confidence in reliever Derrick Turnbow, considered the most logical candidate to take over as the Brewers' closer after Cordero finalized a $46 million, four-year deal with Cincinnati.

As a Cub fan I love the White Sox signing of Scott Linebrink too. If SD and Milwaukee let you go, you are FINISHED.

Come on Bud. Your jealousy is showing. My team has never spent this kind of money. I think it is a perfect fit for him. A revival so to speak. I know what he did this past year but he will have very little pressure here.

BTW, MU last night. Hope you hit it hard.

Melvin was there. I do not think he is done. Braun in left and a new 3rd baseman.

Go Crew!

haha I personally think Gagne is done, we will just have to wait and see I guess but if the Cubs made that move and paid him that money I would have been extremely pissed off. It could turn out to be a good move though who knows... yes Marquette was very nice yesterday! Good call on that one and lets go Packers! Never thought I would say that but Bears are done for and I need Favre to do well for fantasy fball!
