what do others think of Bet Jamaica not paying a winning $13,000 horse wager?

guy had sportsbook limits cut to nickle limits...went to the horsebook played 1000 wagers for a few days , lost them all,,,then hit a big $1000 longshot
for $26,000 and BET Jam came in and said sorry we told you 500 limits and that meant in sports and horses..guy then got a credit on 1/2 of the other $1000 losing tickets (several $500) but lost out on that $13000 of the $26000.

  • he knew they had cut his limits to 500, but he bets 1,000 anyways
  • they paid half of the 26 dimes
  • they paid back half of what he lost

BetJM was more than fair. He's lucky he wasn't dealing with a shit book that would have taken everything and told him to take a hike.

If they cut his limits how come there software allows him to bet more?

software in the sportsbook was adjusted to the stated nickle limits.

casino and racebook were not...track limit was $1000 he played the max for a few days and caught one ...

Hadn't heard about this. I think some of the responsibility falls on the player to find out if his horse limits were also cut. If he didn't, then it falls on him. On the other hand, if the system took the bet, they should pay.

Either way, I have complete confidence in Bet Jamaica, and I love playing there. I think they should pay this, but if they don't, I understand.

Probably the right decision is to cut the guy off and send him to GA. If you're playing 26-1 shots for a grand, you just might have a gambling problem.

I have agree with the player. If they cut his limits on both sports and horses they should have adjusted the software to do the same on both.

This is a major oversite by the book.

Bullshit.

They would have never paid him back for the losing tickets had he not had the winner.

The book is in the wrong here.

Book should pay...got a list of reasons why they should...hate to say this but sometimes books look for reasons not to pay...shit books will always be shit books...competent managers get paid well to deal with problems like this...the top tier books make mistakes also and sometimes have to pay for their mistakes...but it is always the books run poorly that suffer....."Pay the man his money."

betjam is not in the shit book category.

Why on earth would they cut horse bets? If they didn't specifically tell him his horse bets were cut then they should rethink their position on this. Emailing Scotty would go a long way but I am sure this guy is not a poster here

what?

1k to 26k when the limits were cut to 500, but the software accpet it anyway.

so did the guy at least get 13k paid for the 500 he wagered on 26 to 1?

he knew his limit was a nickel, hence two individual wagers.........book is right on this one imo. the fact that he acknowledged his limits with each login eliminates that argument, most that have played a race or casino know the book is not running it's own propietary software and hence i feel he took a shot, hit a flyer and now he's trying to strongarm his way into 10 dimes.

Never called them a shit book....If it wasn't a bad line, then the book should pay...Only takes a couple of mintues to arrange a player's profile to make sure what he gets and doesn't get....

Scotty is one of the best in the industry but bet JM needs to pay. If a guy can beat the horses betting a dime a pop he deserves the money. Otherwise Bet JM knew he was betting dimes and chose to take his action. Dime bets on horses do not go unnoticed by linesmakers and managers. Do you agree Dinosaur?
