The Boston Herald has reported that Tiger Woods and Swedish fiance Elin Nordegren have called it quits. The Woods camp is firmly denying the rumor that Nordegren's sudden longing looks at new No. 1 Vijay Singh caused the blowup.

Rough times for Tiger, Elin
By Gayle Fee

After a three-year love affair that was headed to the altar, Tiger Woods and his stunning Swedish model may have called it quits after a huge blowout, said a source close to Woods.
Woods' fiancee, Elin Nordegren, has been a noticeable no-show at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton this week, where long-time Tiger-watchers are buzzing with rumors of a break-up. Tiger began yesterday's Round 2 tied for the lead but fell two strokes behind surging Vijay Singh.
Woods proposed to the 24-year-old former model and one-time nanny in November after the Presidents Cup in South Africa, during a romantic campout at the Shanwari Game Preserve.
Details of the argument or whether the two could patch things up were still unclear.
But if history is any indicator, the intensely private couple who blasted the manager of the resort where they got engaged for leaking the news will not likely issue a statement.
Nordegren's father, a Swedish broadcasting Washington correspondent, was the only one in either family to talk publicly after Woods popped the question.
``She called me on the phone and said she couldn't be happier,'' Thomas Nordegren told the Stockholm newspaper, Expressen. ``She was overjoyed.
Golf gossip speculated that Woods' concentration has waned, as has his record, because Nordegren has been his focus.
But he has disagreed.
``It's so difficult out here,'' he said in January. ``You've got to have the right people around you, great family, great friends. Now with Elin in my life, it's just made it that much better.'

Tiger is an aftermath, VIJAY is the undisputed #1 golfer in the world.

Will Tiger ever again regain the #1 spot in his career?

Fisher ....Tiger has played great the last 6 months or so and what is strange when they are head to head Tiger has him by like 45 strokes the last couple of years (unreal)

VJ the man now but golf rotates a lot and if Tiger's puts start dropping he dominates again.

VJ wll eventually go cold like EVERY golfer does and I would say Tiger will step right back in to #1

tiger will have to win atleast 4 majors in the next 2 or 3 years to catch vijay.

tiger plays about 16 events a year while singh plays about 30 and racks up a ton of points.

if ernie els played as many events as vijay , he would be the king.

Vijay Number One

The way Ernie has been playing, you cant discount him. Had the pleasure to meet him this summer in Florida at Lake Nona on the practice range. A really nice guy and seems really determined to get to number one. Buddym

I think Tiger will have a lot of time at #1 still ahead of him. Most golfers don't even peak until well into their 30's. Tiger has been a freak to be so good so young - but it's entirely possible we haven't even seen the best of him.

The thing that always impresses me about Tiger though is his cojones. So many basically good golfers start shaking in their boots on the Sunday of a major. Tiger seems to love it and thrives.

He's a champion. He's been in a bit of a lull (not such a bad lull when you're still #2 in the world).

I believe he'll be back on top.

Rumour has it Vijay hits 1,000 balls a day just about everyday. Tiger has far to many commitments to fullfill at this time to devote 100% to his game. If he ever decides to cut back on his endorsements and work on his game he can dominate again.

probably one of the nicest people you will ever meet. was standing in the beer line at a magic game a few years back when i noticed els standing behind me.

i said " hey ernie , let me get you a beer , i made some nice money off you last year in my fantasy golf league "

he says " no problem mate, let me get you one, i had a pretty good year last year myself "

i live about 45 minutes from lake nona and have played it a few times. world class ...

Jack is and still is the greatest golfer ever. If Jack had the equipment and the technology used today he would never be touched.

VJ is playing great golf at present and now believes he is a really top player so is hard to beat but discount Tiger at your peril.

VJ still chokes more often than not when Tiger is around as you can see from their H2H record even while VJ is dominating.

I'm not entirely convinced that Tiger can come back to the 2000 form but would love to have a long range bet that Tiger is No 1 in the world at some stage in the next 3 years - this will depend on VJ going a bit cold with the number of tournys he plays - he has the points racked up and in depth not like tiger who doesn't play often enough for me. Can't see Els getting there - he has too many loose shots.

Whatever happens should be fascinating - isn't golf a great game at the moment not like this NBA ***p!, non existent NHL and dull NFL!

i dont see too many loose shots during 2004 for els . he does rank pretty low in driving accuracy , but ranks 4th in birdies per round. so it doesnt really matter where he hits it.

oh , and i believe he led the european tour in earnings as well..

he is my # 1 player in the world.

World Number 1 - Those stats don't tell you how he plays.

Ask anyone who watches him day in day out - a golf nut who has it on for all the coverage like me.

He hits too many sloppy shots that cost him the few strokes that are the difference between winning and good finishes that are his speciality.

He is a top player but number 3. VJ and Tiger are just too tough.

Doesn't anyone think that Tiger's reappearance performance in Hawaii was excellent - his putter was stone cold (almost as bad as Garcia's) and he came 2nd. Drove the ball well and had good distance control on irons.

Looked very good to me but until he wins I guess everyone has the right to doubt him.
