Northwestern would be 7-4 in big 5. Saw them play SLC, wasnt impressed. SLC lost couple more too. No defense on Miami NW, we have lots of teams that would make it like basketball against them.

High School Talent

Obviously the sunbelt states grow and recruit top athletic HS talent and the discussion usually includes Fla. Tex. and Cal. Coaching, program finances and weather all contribute. But in terms of comparison, raw naked track times are a primary predictor and I stumbled on some surprising statistics the other day. Maybe it is east coast media, but over the last twenty years I came to believe that Fla had the recruiting talent edge. I was stunned to read the top twenty results and final rankings of 2007 outdoor track season that show Texas to be superior over Fla and Calif by a wide margin. While the sprint times are important, the sprint relays better demonstate overall talent:

-------TEX FLA CAL- Others
100---- 6-- 1-- 3 --N. Carolina 4
200---- 6-- 3-- 2-- N. Carolina 3
400---- 3-- 2-- 2
4 X100-10- 4-- 2
4 X400- 5-- 3-- 3-- New Jersey 3

The 4 X 100 school list is the convincing stat (these final outdoor track results came from T+F News 'the bible since 1948'). In football speed kills and Texas deserves recognition as top dog. Good subject Rail and sorry if I ran too far outside bounds of Calif football.

I watched Miami Northwestern and De La Salle both play yesterday. If they played it would not be close. Northwestern is so much better than De La Salle. I think they'd win by 3-4 touchdowns.

Northwestern has a 4 star QB rated the #8 passing QB and two 4 star receivers in the top 100 overall recruits - it is like watching an advanced college passing attack - rarely do you see a high school team throwing all game.

Orange Luteran had a 5 star qb, 5 star o lineman, and 4 star wr who is really a 5 last year. Crisman EDison-UCLA better than JAcory Harris. Other Big 5 qbs last 5 years- Brennan- Mater Dei, Lineart- MAter Dei Carson Palmer RSM Sanchez- Mission Viejo Korp- O lou . 2 JR 5 Stars Barkley- Mater Dei Blake Los AL. Oh BTW coaching far superior in SoCal. To be honest is a down year for SoCal but still depth incrediible with Los Al, Servite, Mater Dei, LB Poly, Birmingham, Taft, Edison, O lou, Helix, O side, etc.
