Now coming from someone who has shown his anti-nature towards them on this board this may sound funny but try and stay with me.

Baseball was dying after the strike, and before it. Attendance was way down and people didn't love the game like they once did. Sosa and McGwire got people interested in it again. People tuned into watch the chase and it brought the casual fan back to the game.

It was like a new ride in an amusement park. Something that everyone wanted to see and try out, but it brings people out to the ballpark. Revenue's skyrocketed and merchandise flew off the shelves. Then home runs became a fans love. Bonds chase of 72, 200+ home runs in a season for teams, a 3 run lead not safe what so ever were just some things that fans fell in love with.

After a morning of thinking about this, that is why I think Bonds gets, and will continue to get more flack. Pitchers weren't the face of the steroid era, home runs were and he was the poster boy of the home run. So although Roger cheated people won't pay as much attention because he didn't hit home runs.

Baseball needs to rid the game of steroids now that it's new ride has attracted people, because the new ride is killing people as well which will eventually push people away from the game. If they can get rid of steroids quick enough people will quickly forgive and forget because that's what America is all about.

It was almost like an incredible idea by baseball because it got people interested again, and now they can act like they are building integrity again and have the fans interested in seeing if they can actually accomplish that goal.

It's crazy logic but in the end it kind of makes sense. Does anyone agree with me?
