Who knows. Ya never know how pitchers are going to work out when switching leagues. Sometimes it works out and other times it doesn't, but it does look good on paper.

Agreed. Looks good on paper. They created quite a few holes in the in the minors with the deal. Haren is good, no doubt about it. They finally have a 1 and 2. The rest of the starting rotation is ok. I personally, don't feel the Dbacks have it in them to make all these moves translate into wins with Melvin at the helm.

Webb and Haren are both young guys....they could be the foundation for years to come. Shit the entire team is young, I don't know how these kids they traded were going to break into the line-up anyway for a few years.

As a Padre fan, I can tell you I'm pissed off. AZ is the team to beat in the NL West. That's going to be tough for the punchnjudy Padres to get to 90 wins playing the Rockies, Dodgers, and AZ.

At least we still get to play SF

As long as SF keeps investing into old players and free agents whose best upsides are behind them, the NL will have some free wins to give out. Simply, as long as Brian Sabean is the front-man in SF, the Giants have no shot at doing anything productive.

Arizona's problem WASN'T pitching...

it was middle relief and on-base-percentage. Chris Young is a horrible lead off hitter, Orlando Hudson is declining rapidly and now has no backup and the team has no legit catcher.

Many of the so called prospect "locks" looked far below average in 2007. Drew, Quentin (traded), Daigle, etc. Chris Young played well but had too many strikeouts.

A small market team has to give away a good player before he reaches his first big payday - shocker. Why does anybody still follow baseball?
