HDMI cables

I bought a Samsung 32" LCD about three months ago. It's still sitting under my bed for some reason. I really didn't need anything bigger for my bedroom but here's my question.

Do I really need HDMI cables? Is there an advantage to using them at all?

Yes!

They are real cheap if you look at Monoprice, and the sound itself is much louder than normal cables

If you have a gaming system hooked up its a must

How the hell do you watch the tv with it under your bed? Lay on the floor?

LOL. It's still in the box. I've been to damn lazy to set it up. So I'm guessing I should get a HD box from Comcast and hook it up using HDMI cables?

No gaming, just T.V. and DVD movies.

HDMI is currently the highest quality hook-up you can have.....subject to change in the next week or so

if you've got the cable, no reason not to use it.....truthfully though I think you'd be hard pressed to see a difference.

HDMI = gimmick

I couldn't wait to get these cables shipped to me, and would have also had to change boxes.

I needed a friend to help me hang the plasma, and he had only limited time. I went with what the guy at the TV store ( former Comcast installer) told me I needed.

I did go to Radio Shack before the installation, and they tried to sell me $120 cables.

good ? I think it's more convenience of one connection than some breakthrough technology.

There's actually no quality improvement, just a convenient cable most people will overpay for.

I didn't want to pay $120 for it, couldn't wait for it to be shipped from an online place for a decent price.

If you wait another 3 months you'll be able to get a 47" for the same price!!

Actually HDMI cables allow you to use the upconvert feature on many new DVD Players. This can NOT be done over composite/component cables. Also, both Sound and Video travels through the HDMI cable...one cable does it all...

Anyone that tells you HDMI cables do not make a difference, do not understand the technology. They are already on a new revision of the HDMI cable, which will take advantage of newer features as well...You only need the models I posted above for your use.

I think I'll probably try some but I won't buy the expensive ones though.

You don't need HDMI cables....

I have same set up as you (Comcast HD receiver)...and I've used 2 sets of component cables....one to connect DVD player to TV...and one from HD receiver to TV....

That's it.....I had used HDMI cable before and can not tell the difference so I returned it...
