Parts are still confusing me. Lets take this Pitt/St Louis game for example. The line I see at 5dimes is 7.5. Why wouldnt someone who likes Pitt offer St Louis at even odds +7.5 (+100). Then you both have a bet with no juice. Why do the lines still end up +104 and -111 currently.

I offer no juice on lines that have not moved and usually get it. matchbook is really slow to update their lines so while other books lines are moving then the juice moves at matchbook before the line

So if right now I offered St Louis for $500 at even money, someone could accept Pitt for $500 and we both have an even bet? Why hasnt someone done this. It baffles me.

Don't be baffled. The offers just haven't reached critical mass yet. By game time you will see 1 and 2 cent spreads on almost every point-spread and moneyline.

I guess I cant figure out why its not always even money. No one should have to pay any juice. You take a group of 10 guys who make there plays thru a bookie at -110. 5 of them like Pitt, and 5 of them like St Louis. There is no reason they all couldnt get +100. As of right now they couldnt get that and I cant figure out why. Why would anyone accept St Louis right now at -111, when in the instance I just gave you can all get even money.

You sound like a liberal Democrat now. No juice and free health care for everybody! ...And don't forget to install those public foot-baths.

Yes...hoping for better odds. Also, the number gets shaded. If there is a market for 5 at matchbook, but there are 5.5s around -110 establishments, you probably won't be able to lay 5 at even. But like I said, show a little patience and wait til game day, and you'll see the spread a lot closer than it is on the days leading up to gameday.

Go ahead and make your offer, but you will have to wait until the St Louis -104 offer has been taken by someone wanting Pit+104.

I still haven't set up an account at MatchBook, even though it's my #1 target to do so. I have been watching many live betting situations lately.

However, I understand what terps1313 mean about how it's baffling why there aren't that much +100 vs. +100 offers.

Though, I noticed nobody mentioned to terps1313 that the WINNING bid has that 2% commission (or whatever it is) to deal with.

So it is not like you and me decide we are on different sides so we help each other with +100 vs +100 bid/accept, avoiding juice. In reality, the winner only gets 98% winnings.

That's why the "best" price available at the same time can get as low but not much lower than 1 or 2 cent differential (i.e. +102 & -103).

P.S. Where I see great potential is the ability to nab both sides as the lines usually move somewhat (i.e. get something for -104 early then the other side becomes +106 or +108) then Matchbook, if I'm reading correctly, would release your initial wagers because they would recognize it as a positive scalp. Great for small bankrolls.

Hope this helps.
