I wish one of these companies would win so I can know what to buy.
I thought for sure BlueRay was kicking HDDVDs ass until I did alittle research.

From what I hear and dont laugh its true. The reason Sony lost the Beta/VHS war is because Sony refused to allow any porn companies to use beta.

Sony is doing the samething right now with blueray. According to the guy I talked to said that was the downfall of BETA.

Then I go to Walmart and there is about 3 HDDVDs for every 1 BlueRay.
But you go to Blockbuster and its all BlueRay.

I dont care who wins this war, I just want someone to win so I can have 1 player that will play all the movies.

They used to say whichever format the porn industry chose, would be the winner .. (they chose HD-DVD btw)..but thats no longer the case because of the internet.

HD-DVD players have been far less expensive over the last few months compared to Blu-Ray...Blu-Ray players are only now going below the $300 mark...

The big thing for Blu-Ray was the size capacity of the disc..Blu-Ray has a 25 GB capacity for their single layer, and 50GB for their dual layered discs.. HD-DVD has 15 GB for their single layer, and 30 GB for their dual layer...HD-DVD just recently announced a triple layer disc with 51 GB capacity...

Unless you are a REAL nit-picker and depending on which studios movies you watch more (certain studios support only one format, others support both)...at this point it's better to go with HD-DVD...the players are far less expensive and the quality is almost identical. You can also buy a dual format player if you don't want to get involved in the format war.

PS3 plays the Blu-Ray discs, which counts for a large margin of their sales...It will be an interesting battle at the end of the day..with so many HD-DVD players sold in the last few months...hopefully they can continue their growth.

my thoughts exactly. I won't buy any until there is a market dominator. Reminds me of the betamax crap years ago
