Can someone explain how they get 2.5% profit out of this example?

This powerful feature makes it easy to trade both sides of a game and to adjust your odds on the fly. To activate MarketMaker, simply click the MarketMaker link and select either side of a blue best-odds box. Enter your base value (say +100) for the top runner along with your desired vig, and MarketMaker will create offers for both sides of the market.

In this example, MarketMaker will enter a request for Boston -7.5 at odds of +106 and another for Sacramento +7.5 at +106. (Remember, these offers will appear in the market at -106 by -106, so that other people can match up against your requests.) If you get balanced action on these offers, you will lock in a profit of 2.5%, equal to your selected vig.

Your balance would increase by $6 with somebody betting both sides risking 106 to win 100 on both sides, subtract commission.

It must be approximate since you can't set lines to -105.3456 and so on ?

I am starting to get pissed off now thinking about this. haha. They would take 2% off of your $106 win which is $2.12. now you are left with a profit of $3.88. well $3.88 would be a 1.9% profit. Tell me what I am doing wrong in my calculations.

I believe that your math is correct. 2.5% vig becomes 1.9% in your pocket. I guess that Matchbook can't be bothered to tell you this beforehand.

NO, If you bet both ways on a game, matchbook will only charge vig on your profit.

Only 2.5% on the 6$ in this case.

Ooooh, LESR is correct. I just checked a NBA bet I bailed out from this week:

Golden State -4.0 -105 107.14 -107.14
Portland 4.0 -101 109.00 107.60
Subtotal 0.46
Commission -0.01
Totals 216.14 0.45

I think it is actually 2%, so you would have $205.88 in acct.

Winner charged $2, you get charged 12 cents.
