Why is marijuana illegal?

I have wanted to know for some time. Alcohol is legal and messes you up way more and causes WAY more problems than the greens but no one would ever think to ban it. So why can't I just smoke a blunt sit back and relax?

Medical Marijuana should be legal without a doubt. Under 1 ounce should also be legal statewide. And aint nothing wrong with a little bit of mushrooms while we are at.....

My boy just showed me some THC pills. He told me his boy gets about 2000 of them in a bottle a week because he has cancer, but he gives them away because he likes to smoke anyway.

It's basically pure THC in a small round capsule

I don't know where you live.. but in BC for the most part you can sit back and smoke a blunt. up to a 1/2 oz is legal here.. or atleast "Decrimilized"...... aka Legal. hehe.

DUI - there is no test for it with pot. It is just as deadly. I think it should be illegal until they come up with a solid way to test for it.

Pot is illegal for numerous reasons. One reason is jobs. The injustice industry (courts, lawyers, PO officers), the treatment industry, and the drug testing industry do very well with pot being illegal. The law enforcement industry also profits from bribes and stealing (aka forfeiture).

Marijuana is illegal because it provides our law enforcement officials with a nice source of income and an easy way to make arrests and pad their crime busting statistics. Let's face it, who would you rather take on... a rockheaded psychokiller or a mellow pot head?
Just in case you wondered, I don't ingest reefer or traffic in it, but I know a hustle when I see it.

Simply because the government could never tax is since people could just grow it themselves, whether it been indoor or outdoor.

Research, WTF are you talking about? Like there would be any accurate data on the subject anyway. All I'm saying is people think they can drive high no problem and put my life in danger. That pisses me off. I'm glad it's illegal.

Synthetic THC is in fact available by prescription, but no doctor is going to write a script for more than 100 per month.

Additionally, Marinol (the most common brand name) costs on average a bit over $25 per pill.

If a patient is fortunate to have an insurance copay they can likely get that down to about a couple bucks per, but they will still face the monthly cap of 100. (30-60 is far more common)
