....... and the steelers have something to play for as they get 3rd seed with win and charger lose. i was honestly expecting a double digit line. the ravens are terrible, have already give up the ship, dissension on the team and the longest losing streak in the nfl. what am i missing here?

Ravens have been saving up for week 17. With Troy Smith at QB, Mike Anderson and Musa Smith at RB, Quinn Sypnewski at TE, and two JUCO third stringers as DB's, frankly I am surprised the Ravens are not favored.

.....against the ravens all you have to do is show up to win.

Earl, I agree with you; I was surprised as well. The ravens are a team without it's starting QB and it's starting RB, and with the enormous difference between being the 3 and being the 4 seed in the AFC this year, I gotta figure Pitt's going to play everybody and play to win, at least until oakland's position becomes completely hopeless (which, admittedly, can be very early in gms for oakland).

Still, in a show of solidarity, I'm going to join Earl and bet Pittsburgh as soon as I hit "submit".

Earl, Earl, why hast thou forsaken me? just kidding. but i agree the 17th week is all about the coaches, forget the teams. dungy, holmgren and gruden have consistent, proven track records in these situations. del rio's actions last week probably imply a like mindedness.

the media's convinced phillips will lay down; i guess so, but he's not making the right kind of noises in interviews. mccarthy's young and stupid. my guess is he makes the mistake of playing his starters way too long. it would serve him right if farve or grant get dinged. and bellichek, well, he's just an old fashioned dick, who will never, ever pull a starter.

Steelers say they are going to try and win the game as long as there is a shot at the 3 seed. Just hard to say how long they are going to leave all of the starters in, especially if San Diego jumps out to a big lead in Oakland (they both play at 4:15). Ravens have been decimated by injuries - even if the Steelers rested some starters they should still win this game.
