derby tickets have got out of control with prices. my brother has been ticked off the last 2 years because hes a TurfClub member or whatever that club is, anyway if you gamble so much in a year you get dibs for seats, the last 2 years he says he has gambled between 8-10 grand on his Club card and each year he gets offered 2 seats in the last section of the stands and its lower level,almost on the track, right where they come around turn 4. he says all you see is the tail ends of the horses running down the stretch. he just buys them for face value and puts them on stubhub and double or triples his money then buys better seats for double or triple their value.
supposedly CD is cracking down on who gets tickets and who the original buyer is or some shit. CD was comping free tickets to government officials and big business for years and then there was some sting where some local pawnshop owner had like over 200 tickets and was selling them online and the tickets were traced to who originally got them and stuff.
the infield is a must have experience, at least once, it was 15 the first i went, then 25 , then 30, i haven't been in a while.
the mint julep is a tourist drink, a marketing ploy, its just a glass with a mint leaf and some sugar in the bottom of the glass, some crushed ice, with bourbon.
