Outback Bowl.
Game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa..
Starts 11AM EST.

Wisconsin 9-3 - 2-3 road
Wins of note:
Wash St 41-20
Iowa 17-13
Mich St 37-34
Indiana 33-3
Michigan 37-21
Minnesota 41-34 (only road win in group to 1-11 SU Gophers)

Most impressive win - Michigan

Other wins:
UNLV 20-13 (road)
Citadel 45-31
N. Illinois 44-3

Losses (all on road)

Illinois 31-26
Penn St 38-7
Ohio St 38-17

Key players:
Doubful and definitely not 100% Tailback P.J. Hill.(2,649 yards and 29 tds last 2 years) adequate back-up freshman Zach Brown 111 carries, 539 yards, 5 TDs should get the start at all important Badger Tailback position.

TE Travis Beckum led Wisky with 73 catches for 960 yards and 6 tds.
Without Hill, Beckum was top TD maker on team.

QB Tyler Donavan (57.9% for 2,452 yards and 16 touchdowns with 10 ints.) Donavan also has 4 rushing TDs this year.

Tennessee 9-4 - 7-0 home - 2-4 road.

Wins of note:
So. Miss 39-19
Georgia 35-14
South Carolina 27-24
Arkansas 34-13 (Darren McFadden 117 yards on 22 carries,only 25 yds in 1st half)
Vanderbilt 25-24
Miss st 33-21 (road)
Kentucky 52-50 (road)

Loses:(all on road)
California 45-31
Florida 59-20
Alabama 41-17
LSU 21-14 (SEC Title, lost on an 18-yard interception return with 9:54 left).

Other wins:
Ark. St. 48-27
LA. Lafayette 59-7

Players lost to suspensions:
Defense: LB Rico McCoy, Def. tackle Demonte Bolden
and reserve free safety Ricardo Kemp.
Offense:Starting and star WR Lucas Taylor, who led the Vols with 1,000 yards on 73 catches.

The Vols are very deep especially at WR and should experience no drop off on offense despite losing talented WR Taylor.
The loss of LB McCoy and DT Bolden hurts and will require back-ups to step up but they have had a month to prepare.

Key Players:
QB Erik Ainge (3,157 yds, 29 touchdowns with 10 ints all year)
RB Arian Foster (1,162 yards rushing and 14 TDs)

Anaysis:

I don't think the old size vs speed thing is viable anymore when it comes to Big 10 vs SEC.
However Wisconsin was only able to play well all year at Camp Randall and pretty much stunk on the road. Sure there will be some fans from Wisconsin at this game but the stands will be mostly Volunteer Orange in not so distant fron Nashville - Tampa Fl.

Wisconsin lives and dies with it's running game and while Zach Brown filled in very well for star but injured and very doubtful tailback P.L. Hill he is still a freshman with only 5 games under his belt.

Badger QB Tyler Donavan only had more than 20 completions once all season in a losing cause to Illinois.

Make note that Frosh Rb Zach Brown had a picnic against a pathetic Minn. Gopher Defense - running for 250 yards on 29 carries and 2 TDs on Nov. 17th in the Metrodome. The Vol Defense won't be as generous. Bascially half of Brown's season totals came from that game alone.

Erik Ainge should get plenty of time to throw and Arian Foster should see some big holes created by the strong and big Vol Offensive line (allowed only 4 sacks all year).

Opponents are scoring 23.3 ppg and averaging 350.4 total ypg against the Badgers this year.

The Vols are avereging 33.4 ppg and 399.2 total ypg on the season.
The Badgers are huge up front on offense but will be looking at 8 man fronts most of the time from the Tenn. defense.

Opponents are scoring 28.1 ppg and gaining 407.6 total ypg against the Vols. However the difference in competition is IMO substantial and accounts for the YPG yielded by Tenn.

Only real quality team that Wisconsin beat all year was Michigan (at Camp Randall of course).

The Vols beat, Georgia, Arkansas, South Carolina and Kentucky and was very competitive against LSU in the Gerogia Dome during a 21-14 to loss to #1 LSU in the SEC championship game on Dec 1st.

The game is going to come down to whether or not Tennessee can stop the Wisconsin ground game and at -1.5 (Bookmaker.com) I like the Vols to shut it down enough for their own high powered offense to outscore the long way away from Camp Randall Badgers..

The Badger defense was ripped by every quality team they played this year and today should be no different..

Note: This will be the final game at Tennessee for offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe, who is moving on to be head coach at Duke.

Oddity: Rx Bash attendees from last September remember this is the same Wisconsin team that barely escaped Las Vegas with win after QB Tyler Donovan scored on a 29-yard bootleg with 1:53 to play for a 20-13 victory over the 2-10 on the season UNLV Rebels..

Lay the 1.5 with Tenn. for what should be an easier win than last night's nail biter in the Auburn/Clemson battle.

Go Vols.

BOL. and Happy New Year, wil...

Well Wil...you would think your analysis was dead on...HOWEVER...

many bowl games are DECIDED BY ATTITUDE...and

Tenn/fulmer is usually terrible in bowl games...look at game against Psu last year...edge wisc.

most teams historically losing O.C. even if said stays for game USUALLY under-perform...edge wisc.

that last loss to Lsu was CRUSHING...and Tenn. really not into this game...edge wisc.

Going too be VERY WINDY today in fla...artic front coming thru...very rare occurrence...Ainge not the most accurate under pressure anyway's...

Favs...have been covering a way too high a rate...gotta go dog at some point...

I like Wisc.'s new coach...

While I would like sec too sweep...the play here for me is wisc...or no play...

Akilles

Thanks for pointing that out for some reason I saw it listed as a 1PM EST during my research. Correction made.

Sammy, I don't expect everyone or even anyone to agree with me. BOL. today.

Shdw01, please remember wager with your head not above it. There is no such thing as a lock. My post is just my own opinion and while I think it makes some good points, ANYTHING can happen today. Being a moderator does make a person any smarter than anyone else, especially when it comes to picking winners.

Bottom line for everyone - anytime you follow a selection you should practice the policy of Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware)...

Thanks to everyone, wil..

Sammy - not over yet by a long shot.

Tenn. is lucky to be leading as poorly as they played mentally. While they are giving Tyler Donavan a pretty good beating the media reports about P.J. Hill be very doutful prooved to be totally false as he rushed for 50 yards on 10 carries.

If Fullmer settles down and plays it straight I think the Vols still have to much offensive firepower and will end up out-scoring the Badgers in the end.
