Long story short... cocktail party this weekend and was told to dress up a little. Would a button-up shirt and nice jeans work or am I supposed to wear slacks and shit?

Thanks in advance. :pope:

you will be underdressed if you are in jeans at a cocktail party. The ladies will be wearing their nicest evening wear. You should at least throw on some slacks. Remember to wear that belt and be sure it matches your shoes.

slacks, ironed collared shirt, sharp looking jacket. make sure your shoes are a darker color than your pants, and that your belt and shoe colors match, too. (yes, you should wear a belt *and* shoes!) :103631605

I second that. What are they going for the Miami Vice look with jeans and jacket.
