Anyone have any good advice on how to get Super Bowl tickets at a decent price or any past experiences buying them?

if your just going no matter who's in the game, buy them early. I went to super bowl xl and got 2 tickets for 4800. this was just after the steelers won the afc champ. game and I found a lot of them in the paper, called around and they were the best price. met the guy, gave him a certified check and got the tickets in hand.

I could have went the ebay route but didn't want my 5k tickets in the mail anywhere.

if you want to know anything else specific, let me know.

Wait it out until the last 30 minutes. Tickets always appear at near-face value.

Not true

I got 2 tix face value 4 hours before the game for Xl in Detroit...I may have been very lucky and the guy didnt want to screw anyone over, but they were reasonable before the game

it is true. you got lucky, which happens from time to time. the only super bowl since 2000 that 'bottomed out' was pats/rams.

i estimate this year, if its pats cowboys/packers, to be approx $3,000 to get in the door. i will buy as many seats as possible for $2000 or less.

A big reason for that was that the game was in Detroit. There will be less demand when the game is played in a cold weather city (many that would normally travel without a ticket don't bother going).

waste of money if you ask me. Go buy a big plasma with that money and watch the game. Whatever is leftover gamble it on the game.

LOL I live near Detroit and I had no interest in going down there in that mess. The city did ok with all those people. Only 3 people got killed on that weekend. Thats not bad for us.

You will lose your ass. Not saying there won't be more demand if it were NE vs GB or Dallas, but prices do fall in the last hour.

If I were looking for tickets, I would look at Craigslist Phoenix right now. Host team (Cardinals) get 5%. Here is the breakdown:

AFC Champion - 17.5 percent
NFC Champion - 17.5 percent
Host Team (Cardinals) - 5.0 percent
Other 29 Teams - 34.8 percent
NFL - 25.2 percent

5% is 3700 tickets.

I can only speak from my one experience @ a Superbowl(last year) looking for tickets.
Day before the game I went to the Bears team hotel as I heard there were a lot of people going to be selling tickets there.
Nothing...did meet one guy who claimed he has been to 15 Superbowls and he said head to South Beach for scalping because the hotel was dead for tickets.
Went to south Beach the morning of the game..plenty of tix...all at a minimum of 2500/ticket.
Went to the stadium about 3.5 before kickoff....prices didn't drop.
Not even during the first quarter...they were holding firm.
I'm used to buying tickets right before gametime but I never saw prices hold firm like they did for that Superbowl.
I was told by more than one scalper that you can get in for 200 after 3rd quarter.
If Patriots,Dallas,or GB make it, the demand for the game is going to be very, very high.

Thanks for the info guys. I am in Phoenix and plan to go to the game. I've been looking on ebay and craigslist. I would spwnd between 3000 - 4000 for a pair of tickets. I am hoping I can get them for that price but I don't want to wait until the day of the game. I hope I get them before that so I can enjoy the day and not have to worry about tickets.

Dont forget we are in a Recession, there will be many sellers. IF Indy gets by Pats will be sub 2000 by gametime.
