Have a picture of my father and him in front of Simco's on Blue Hill Ave , from the 70's. If you knew John, even twice removed, you never had a problem with ANYbody, cops or otherwise. Wilhelm may be able to confirm that.

google 60 minutes and check out the interview, i didnt even recognize him at first, havent seen him in person since 1980.

John "The Cook" Martorano is a legend in some circles of Boston and was part of Whitey's crew for years. No telling how many bodies (especially potential witnesses) he is responsible for. I have never met or even seen him that I know of.

used to be a strip joint in the combat zone that had a neon sign in the window that read PUSSY GALORE. my friends and I used to ride our bikes up to it and stare at the entrance, people coming and going and day dreaming over the sign that said pussy galore. finally at some point we tired one of dads friends out over our obsession and he arranged for a walk thru but it was a speed walk, in the washington street entrance and out the side door. but we got to walk past the main and near the back exit we shook hands with a lite skin black girl named cinnamon, we talked about her for years and compared girls that we liked to her. anyway fuck disney world, that was the same thing to us, we actually got to enter the pussy galore stag bar. i love that guy, he had us all lined up at the entrance waiting for the signal , we were trying to push through like a bull at the rodeo, then he said lets go and led us through the place , it was the feeling you get the first time ever at fenway or disney world, fucking great guy. fuck this brings back memories

I remember the Combat Zone very well from back in the day. One of the joints had a long horsehoe shaped bar that must have had around 150 stools and maybe 15 bartender stations going up one side and down the other. In the middle was a long runway where the strippers would dance, sometimes 3 or 4 at a time because the runway was so long.

I think it was called the "Two O'Clock Lounge".. I won a bet with a bartender in there one day. I was drinking Heineken with a friend of mine and we were talking about the proof of certain labels and the subject of Tangueray gin came up and the bartender claimed that is was 80 proof. I knew back then all Tanqueray was 94.6 proof and bet him $20 against two Henekins he could not show me a bottle of 80 proof Tangueray. He went around to every station with a flashlight and read every label of Tangueray in the joint - then walked back to where we were seated and put two Henikens in front of me and my friend and walked away without saying a word.

The cheap bastard never paid for them either..

Usual night out with the boys was first either a Bruins, Celtics or Red Sox game then a trip to the Combat Zone for some serious boozing and stripper watching topped off with a late and drunken supper in China Town...

Those were the days.

Jim -

Many years ago I used to grab high end merchandise still in sealed box from an irish guy you probley know, L.H. His brother Jimmy owns a taxi medallion, anyway a real fucking nutcase with a temper, that crew made the herald a bunch times for swiping credit cards from wallets at high end spas and clubs. Laughed my ass off when they did an exclusive expose on it on foxnews.

I don't remember the name Hillbilly Ranch but if it was in the zone then I am sure I was in the place. I was in the Playboy club a few times, but if my memory serves me it was in Kenmore Square not the Combat Zone.

OK Park Square - hey it's been 30 years. There was a club on Kenmore Square I used to go to after Red Sox games back then. The place had a psychadelic name which were popular during that time. I know I am getting old because I can't remember the name. Somthing like The Yellow Submarine or some dumb shit like that.
