I never play in-game there. I've seen the following in the in-game odds for the same game:

+6 -147/-6 -125.

Even worse offering Under 46.5 +6000 when there was already 48 points scored.

If people are offering it, you'd have to think that there are some clueless guys eating up at least one of the offers here or there.

Than simply man up and bet the +5000. Ingame at matchbook is really one of the only special things going on in the sports gambling world right now. I almost never miss an ingame. You got to be sharp to play. If you are not you will take it in the a$$ almost every time.

Hey, I tossed $100 on Pittsburgh in the 2Q Saturday to win $1000!!!

Fucking Mike Tomlin. I am still pissed about that.

I agree lot of opportunity there......just a lot of idiots who I dont understand. I allso nailed the Giants Under y-day when they picked off the ball at 2-1 odds. It went to replay and someone left $400 dangling out there they lost.

Although, the worry on the face of the person who laid $1000 to win $100 made the losing bet somewhat easier to swallow.

Also, those $2 bets and $8 bets are really annoying. Seriously if that is what you are betting you are wasting valuble time with your life.

well if you looked at it from a postive angle.. if you only accept offers, you can put in your offer and Matchbook automatically will adjust the line for you or post up your offer at the same lines..
sometimes thats why theres a few dollars out there..
I agree that its meaningless.. but to some action is action

Wolfie,
In game betting is the one medium that weeds out the Jokers who lose their money in no time. You have to know your odds to a tee to succeed and not be cramped by conventional thinking. Its laughable when Posters break their neck to pay for an extra 1/2 point before a game but question someone taking 33/1 about a 100/1 shot during the game. The problem for the greenhorns is they tend to top whats posted up regardless of value and fail to see that the odds will change significantly without a score in games. :drink:

Hey Winny is there a chart that helps with this?

I called Mike Tomlin but he never called me back.

What he said.

I only had deposited money into Matchbook for the 1st time this past weekend, and quickly learned the in-game betting and how it works with Matchbook about betting both sides. Man, I love it as I have kept getting guaranteed money in every live-betting game the last few days.

Back to weird numbers and odds, I use a spreadsheet so I already anticipate the 2% commission whenever I want to win $20 or $40 or $100 (I put out $20.41, $40.81, $102.04, respectively). So sometimes, people match my bets and wants to "only win $40" so there ends up only 81 cents or whatever before another person covers that for me. It doesn't mean somebody (like I seem to be) is offering *only* $1, really.

I chuckle when people put odds for something that has already been decided like Under 46.5 when 48 points was already scored. They just want attention, I guess.

I am enjoying my guaranteed money in the Ind/Mich CBB game live betting as example. I checked at halftime and hit Ind -9.5 at -150 for $25 (risking $37) when Ind led by 6 at half.

Then after Ind started on a run, I insured myself by hitting Mich +9.5 +345 a few minutes later for $13 (to win $47) or so.

So I have won around $11 no matter what. Imagine if this was done with larger bets & doing it often--- Matchbook could be a match made in heaven. :103631605

What I did tonight was simply bet on the favorite (Alabama -2.5) to win 3 units right before tip-off. Then 15 minutes ago I got +172 on the underdog (Florida +2.5), 2.2 units on that with the possibility of winning 3.78 units, so I win about 0.7 units either way.

Yep, it works both ways. I watched the 1H first, and quickly determined that Ala -2.5 would rise before Fla caught up so I bet Fla +2.5 at +236 *first*.... then waited patiently to see Fla claw themselves back in. Ala -2.5 became +106 recently that I nabbed for even amount (of guaranteed profit) either way.

Matchbook can fool you into thinking you're a smart gambler when you can lock up profits on various games, but usually these locks amount to peanuts and then eventually you'll lose a game and 7-8 games of locked profits will be gone in one swoop. Smart gamblers rarely take opposing side at favorable odds simply to lock up profits, but rather each wager should be treated as a seperate entity without regard to what is already on the table. I say "rarely" because they are exceptions, such as when you have so much at stake that you just want a way out.

Kind of like Deal or No deal....if you had 2 boxes and 1 was a million and the other a penny, most would take a bankers offer of $400,000, even though from a mathmatical standpoint it's pretty dumb to do that. This is why occasionally a good gambler will take an offer that from a numbers standpoint is not in his best interest. But to jump every time a lock presents itself will lead you to ruin, as you are simply making an additional wager at often bad odds.

Just thought I'd chime in on the Matchbook love-fest! As one poster said above, their live betting is about the best thing going now, and I plan my nights and weekends around it! Love it! I like to live bet the entire game and then check my total volume after the game. I'm often in the tens of thousands of total action on each live-game. Nothing like a heavy couple hours of trading, and then seeing green on both sides of the market as you head into the fourth quarter!

Also, MB is apparently one of the safest places to have your money. Over the past several months I've extracted over 40K from them, without any problems (they can do checks only up to 3K, but they send several at a time when you take out more). I pay the $28.50 for the FedEx check -- it arrives within 3 or 4 days each time. Too easy!

Kudos to MB! If you don't have an account there, you're hurting yourself. Whether you're a square (plenty on this board), a sharp (plenty on this board), or simply an addict (plenty on this board), there is something at MB for you.

Can't wait for the American Idol markets to open up!!

You can even create markets for your own personal stuff with your buddies (e.g., the golf tournament that your friends are playing next weekend), and after the event is over, you simply tell MB of the results, and they pay everybody. Looks like someone is doing that right now (under X-bets). Fun!

its not really 'guaranteed' money though, b/c you have to be right in predicting what will happen, no? if you take a side and you never get a chance to buy back at a decent price, you could just have an outright loser. am i missing something?
