I bought a new laptop 8 days ago, great deal, but I would not recommend Norton 2008

I bought the laptop last week below. It is the best laptop that I have ever owned! It is fast and serves my needs well. But I also received a free copy of Norton 2008 Internet Security when I bought the computer. I installed it over the weekend. It has really slowed down my computer. It wants to check and recheck everything. It is a pain in the ass. I am only saying this so you wont waste your money getting this program.

You actually get this program for "free" at Circuit City when you buy any computer. Well that is after mail-in rebate.

I strongly recommend this laptop for everyday use. It may not be enough some of you porn users, but it is enough for poker and to watch the games online.

Also, you get a free printer with purchase at circuitcity. This is BY FAR the best printer that I have ever had. It of course is a copier and scanner as well.

Can't find it a Circuit City, you posted the picture and details from Best Buy. What gives?

Well you can buy the "sister" computer this week at circuit city. This is virtually the same computer. Hell, why spend more money than this. You know that you will buy another laptop in 2 years or less anyway.

Mid-size laptop: The Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 is a mid-size laptop, with above-average processing power and everything most people need for basic computing, entertainment and online communication. How's the Microsoft Windows Vista ????

Wanted to buy something last week ( not that I need too ) just wanted to add to my list of laptops and PC's.....but know nothing about Vista

It isnt that much different than WINDOWS XP IMO.

However, being able to see a "snapshot" of the other windows quickly without leaving the current window is REALLY COOL!


I sure wish that someone could get me an activation CODE for 2007 Home Office though! I only have about 53 days left on the trial


I can probably use wordpad for my needs though anyway. I have word on our other computers at home, not sure that I need it on this one

I wasnt in the know. It was free after rebate, so I bought it.

But I regret it now.

I try to stay away from as well....but they are better then Mcfee
as far as problems and slowing down the computer....or am I missing something ??? because I Would LOVE to get rid of Norton

Norton is a pain in the ass.

My ISP provides a security module as part of the service, includes anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware, pop-up blocker, and parental control (if you need it).

I think that Roadrunner does all of this stuff as well, buuuuuuuttttttttttttttt I bought it anyway. I think that in my yearly gambling log, I will just count this as a losing pick.


I am glad that this pick didnt cost me $1000

Using my notebook now, got it 4 months ago, I like it.
I have no trouble with Vista.
p.s. McCaffe kicks Norton's ass.

Nod32 or Kaspersky are the way to go.

Of course I should also say why I always buy the cheapest laptop. That is because I usually throw my laptop after a bad beat or so.

I broke my last laptop on December 29th. It also put a small hole in my wall of the living room as well. I think that I will keep that hole there for a while as punishment

I have been using the free version AVG virus program for 3 years now and never any problem. It catches everything.

The problem with virus programs is that it doesn´t tell you have a virus until after its already on the computer a lot of times. There is the I phantom to prevent this. The web site is www.iphantom.com and this little black box rocks. A buddy of mine has one and it will knock the virus out before it gets to your computer. It also has a bunch of other uses I won´t get into, but it is worth the cash.
