Every day is a new day, a totally different day. I usually wrap everything up with a few bets still on the table every nite so it helps getting out of bed in the morning knowing you have a few games to still grade.

After that is complete you take a look at todays card and know it starts back over, I can't imagine not living this way. I love it!!!! I almost feel sorry for people that never take any risks or bet on anything, whether it is the stock market or something but something to get your blood boiling/moving.

After a hard days work in my real job I get to sit down and try and solve the gambling puzzle. I enjoy that so it is not like work at all though I put in alot of hours doing it. I had 51 bets last nite and 47 the nite before (a little higher than normal for me but this time of the year is like that).

This may acorss like a degenerate to some (I am sure not on a gambling forum though) or I may be in a good mood cause I have had back to back solid days(LOL) but (IMO) at least I am doing something I TRULY enjoy and can do it everyday and I am not sure most people can say that.

If this is treated like a hobby/business and money that can be afforded is put to the side to bet with, than most people on here should feel the same way I do but I do know unfortuantely that is not always the case.

Either way just wanted to say good luck to all the gamblers out there today and always remember they play the national anthem every day.:toast:

I've said it for years. If terrorists knew about gambling, there would be no more terrorism.

It's too bad others don't understand this. I find myself not telling a lot of people I bet because of the negative attitudes in our society regarding it. It is a hobby to me as well though and I've tried other things and nothing gives me the same satisfaction. There are some weekends I'd rather put a few hundred down on some games and chill at home rather than drop a hundy at the bars and usually it ends up being more profitable. Plus the RX can be much more entertaining. To a great new year of action!

Iceman, Do you personally grade each of your wagers? Like, do you double check the books results with the actual results?

I think of me being a daily sports bettor as a huge negative....

40+ plays a day is insane....

I'm at about 10-20/day and I think it is too much....i know ice is pretty good with line shopping/movement but vig must really bite the bottom line

vig doesn not bite the bottom line because i average over the vig per bet. Meaning every bet (hopefully) is +ev.

So in essence if you multiply my bets for the month times 2 or 3 or so so than that will give you an idea how much I am ahead for the month unit wise. So the more bets the better. That is the whole goal. I want to maintaina certian ROI but average more bets a day that way I win more money than having less bets. The more money bet equals the more money won. The more bets made (if they are all +ev bets) the less variance/luck involved.

Example: if I win 54% of bets at -110 juice and bet $100 a game and bet 1,000 bets for the month than I would be up $3,400 for the month. Now double the total amount of bets (from 1,000 to 2,000) made and keep the same amount ($100) per bet and same win pct (54%) and now I am up $6,800 for the month. I paid out more juice as I had more losers but because I made 2,000 monthly bets (double the previous month) I made twice as much money.

I guess the key stat is how do you hit 54%???

provided that % of wins is the case, wouldn't the next/easier progression be to increase the $ value per bet? This would also add juice to losers but add more to winners (54%)....but would cut your handicapp time in half (time is money?)

I understand variance may get higher w/ doubling the amounts but if you are going for the 2,000 bet/month approach, looks like your bankroll can hold up

I try to beat 50% lines by searching high and low and beating books to moves or finding stale numbers enough so I win the those 3-6 times out of 100 that everyone pushes or ties, I guess best explains it. Probably closer to 53.7% but I am not averaging paying -110 juice either more like -108 or so.

Sure would love to bet more. I am in the $150 to $200 a bet range currently. This is my comfort zone. You have too be deeply funded at books to do this and I do have a pressure point with how much money are in these smaller type books I bet at. Also everyone has a comfort level and mine is about $250 or so, anything more than that I start to get emotional over the bets. My stomach and decision making doesnt do as well when the swings are $630 between a win and a loss.

I also like to fly under the radar at some of the places I play at and when you start dropping let's say $500 a pop you become noticed. I have never had any problems at any of the books I am in (knock on wood) and if I did, the hit would be alot less than a 8k hit being in 1 book and that would hurt big time .

I have won 16 out of 17 months I have did this but every month since last Januray I have been down at least one time during the month and really never flinched. There are some days I have lost in the $1,500 range and tripling my bets would be a 5k loss day and that would be hard or from 1-4 to 1-7 I lost close to 2k but since then I have won over 3k so the ups and downs would be a little out of whack.

Bottom line I try and have a bankroll and have 200 units put towards it betting less than 1% per bet. I feel if I lost that it would be over so that would be the ultimate goal not to go bust because if so than good bye betting and too me that means everything. The bankroll is not growing as fast as I would want as I do use alot of the money for other things and I leave the BR intact. Hoping to get my finances a little better under control so I can build a bigger bank and than maybe do what you suggested.

Back before the internet I'd be home on a Sunday in late May early June with not a cloud in the sky and what am I doing.

Betting and watching NBA playoffs!

I felt so all alone.

I never felt all alone but I have wondered what I've missed out on while watching football and basketball these past 4 years. While I may have missed out on things I sure have enjoyed the time I spent watching and betting sports so it's not like I'm totally wasting my time.

40+ plays a night is crazy and can't be profitable in the long run. I rarely play more than 10, usually 5-9 bets a night. Like tonight I got Dartmouth +3.5 -115, Cavs -7.5 -110, Wild/Blackhawks Under 5 +115, Islanders/Flames Under 5 +110, and I'm waiting till gametime for the Bucks to get a better number since everyone is pounding the Lake Show. So only 5 plays tonight from me. Wow I can't even imagine me playing 40 plays in 1 night.
