I bet a GOP canidate to win his nomination. In all likelihood one canidate or another will have sewn up nomination by March at latest. GOP Convention is 9/1-9/4. Will books hold off paying the nominee until then?

Thought I would ask here being that it is an off-shore sportsbook question. I guess if it doesn't pertain to who fathered Brittany's kid or what football conference 'sucks' it isn't worthy of this forum any more.

I agree that you should call the book because rules are likely to vary from book to book.

However, I would guess that they wouldn't pay it out until all of the primaries are completed at the earliest, which I believe is June 3rd. Though they'll probably take it off the board long before then.

Personally I would not count on getting paid on any projected winners until the convention officially nominates a candidate.

Just like the elections, candidates must be voted for by delegates at the actual conventions to make it official that they will be their parties nominee.

Asking the book would not hurt either, but I doubt they will pay projected winners (and not pay projected losers) because of leads in the polls after doing well in the various state conventions and cacuses.

i'm imagine you get paid on "no" bets once the candidate drops out and conceded...but think it varies by the book

I can't imagine they would pay you before the nominee is officially nominated

Even though a candidate might clearly have the most delegates, a lot can happen before the convention. The leading candidate could get sick and withdrawal, or even something worse. If this were the case I believe the party would choose the nominee, but I'm not real sure. Anybody who actually paid attention in civics class feel free to chime in.
