One of the greatest hitters ever that never seemed to this observer to get his due attention from the national media ............as he never played in New York, Boston, Chicago, or LA.

Stan the Man is a baseball Icon and definetly one of the games all time greats..

A little trivia about Stan Musial: He is one of only two players to hit five home runs in one day - Stan did it in a doubleheader against the New York Giants in 1954..Anyone know who the other player to accomplish this amazing feat is?

A first ballet Hall of Famer Stan Musial is still the most celebrated player to ever wear a St. Louis Cardinal uniform..He was a hero to three generations of Cardinal and baseball fans in general during his career. The Cardinals were considered the home team for an area covered most of the midwest section of the US back in the 40s, 50s and early 60s.. Musial was a huge fan favorite for his reputation as a gentleman on and off the baseball diamond.

In 1999 Stan Musial ranked tenth on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players ever.

Nate Colbert is correct. In the early 60s, my family would drive to St. Louis in August(hot hot) and watch 4 games in three days. Those were the days of double-headers. Saw many of the greats.

Hard Hittling Nate Colbert while playing for The San Diego Padres on August 1, 1972, clouted 5 home runs and drove in 13 runs in the doubleheader.

A little more Stan The Man Trivia:

Stan Musial became the first grandfather in Major League Baseball history to hit a home run, connecting in his first at bat on September 10, 1963.
