If this topic has been brought up previously, I am sorry, but I was thinking about the Clemens case.
I personally good give a shit if Clemens, Bonds, or anyone else cheated. I personally only follow sports for gambling purposes now days. I still enjoy college sports, but don't follow a single pro team (used to be the Browns, until Fart Modell moved the team).
My point being that people cheat in every aspect of society, I am not saying that makes it acceptable or correct. However, a guy like Michael Milkien (spelling) steals 1.5B dollars through insider trading and gets sentenced to a country club and only gets fined .5B and still leaves with tons of money in his pocket.
I know we all enjoy sports and many people feel like they have been personally violated. However, sports is a business just like anything else. If someone told me I could get paid what Barry and Roger were getting the last 5 years for using roids, I would ask do I need to eat before injecting myself or fast for 4 hours prior?
I am sure many of you will disagree, but as I have come to realize, the fans care more about the sport and the team than the players. Players come and go, just like employees at a company, but at the end of the day, the shareholders care about the bottom line, the employees care about the 15th and 30th.
Owners really don't care about steroids, if they did simple.
1st offense -1 year suspension
2nd offense - Lifetime ban - (go fuck yourself)
How many tickets would Peter McGowan and the Giants have really sold from 1999-2007 if Bonds wasn't juicing? They were sold out every night and once Bonds broke the record, the place was a ghost town. I know the Giants sucked this year, but imo most were going to see Barry.
I am not saying it is okay to use juice or cheat, but why isn't anyone calling out the owners and saying, look if you resign any player accused of cheating like Shawn Merriman, we are boycotting your team's games. People say they care, but do they really? The Giants were sold out everywhere on the road the past 5 seasons, we all knew Barry was on the juice.
