he's going to have a new rule named after him to stop his offensively aggressive displays where he slams the ball in right in front of and next to fans against walls and equipment after scoring. They can do without it. It's a tremendously negative and unsportsmanlike act that is over-the-top aggressive. I can't believe the NFL will let this continue.

Was really hoping that he would reverse his momentum and spike the ball on the Cowgirl Star, just like Owens did a few years back...not a good decision on Jacob's part...

It's an emotional game. slamming the ball like that has been around for several years now - if not longer..I don't like it either but worse shit happens on football fields than throwing a ball at a cement wall.

Jacobs whipped the ball at the play clock after he scored a touchdown.

This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen anyone complain about.

I didn't see that - I thought it was a common garden variety throw the ball against the wall after a TD deal.

Yes, but he doing it too close to the fans and other bystanders, and he's doing that for a reason...he's in a foe's stadium. It's like an agressive "fuck you" to the crowd. I wouldn't care if he wasn't doing it so close to the fans. JMO, and I'm not the only one with this take on it. The NFL won't even allow Gary Glitter's "History of Rock and Roll Part 2" to be played at an NFL game because the "artist" is a pedephile. You think they'll let Jacob's jailyard bullshit continue?

lol its ppl like u that suck aLL the fun nd emotion out of gms

LOL...it's people like you who don't realize that there's no much fun or emotion in these games to begin with. Sports is a weak entertainment product, overall. They have to create all this false controversy and publicity to promote it and prop it up. Sports as we know it in 2008...Weak. It's strickly business for me.

You are right on, Public. Just another case of an athlete who has never been taught, either by parents or role models, of how to conduct himself in society, particularly after enjoying some degree of success.

Watching all the grandstanding after practically every play must be annoying a lot of fans like myself, and I think the NFL realized this, which is why they resort to fining people to maintain some sort of control. I still watch the game, but if it gets much worse I'll take my entertainment time-dollars elsewhere. I know I'm probably sounding like an old fogey, but you jsut didn't see all of this 20 years ago. I think it started with Gastineau and has gone progressively worse through the years.

And just once I would like to see a wide receiver acknowledge the quarterback for the throw after a Touchdown.

Wow and to think that Jacobs was merely releasing his aggression after a long drive and touchdown.

Now thanks to TheRx and this thread I now know Brandon Jacobs spike against the play clock is a microcosm of the downfall of American society and a sign of the apocalypse. :103631605

Yeah, you're probably right, Ironman. No doubt he had a lot of built-up agression he needed to release as a result of that 6 play drive that took all of 2 minutes and change. His stats on the drive were 1 carry for 1 yard. I could just feel Jacobs' tension bulidng, couldn't you?

I wonder what kind of aggressive-releasing displays behavior we could expect when he stops playing ball and life throws him a few curves in his direction?

Honestly I could feel Jacobs tension there Mr. Squeeze. A pivotal play in the midst of a playoff game of a hated rival with the chance to go to the NFC championship I can understand his aggression. And with the netting behind the goal post there was no safety issues as previously mentioned by the OP.

I understand your concern post-football for Mr. Jacobs and rightfully so. So tell me Mr. Squeeze what Masters program and or Psycho-Sociological thesis you've written to show the causal and correlative effect of this show of aggressive emotion and tie that to how law abiding he will be after he hangs the cleats up.

Oh yeah, I searched your extensive posting on this site and found nothing relating to any quasi-concern of football players or any other athletes for that matter after they retire. If I have missed that please show me.

No, you didn't miss anything....the lives of football players post-retirement is not real high on my lit of worries. What I am somewhat concerned about is the alarming trend of kids growing up in zero or one parent households and how they impact society. Jacobs isn't entirely to blame here as more than likely he has never been taught by anyone how to behave himself, especially when being watched by 50 million people.

Whether we like it or not, kids with no role models look to athletes to emulate. We are not just talking about Jacobs....the gloating and boorish behavior is evident on practically every play. Jacobs is just an example.

No Masters program for me, Ironman......just expressing an opinion.

After Jacobs slammed the ball into the clock (which he had rehearsed in his mind already because he ran straight over to it) he asked for the ball to be returned to him by the guy that was standing next to the clock who had covered up in self-defense when he threw it.

This is coming after a bowl season where these cornhole college officials threw penalty flags for practically any display of happiness or joy by the kids who scored and who aren't playing for money.
