I have posted about this in the past but thought I would bring it up again as this January has been the best month I have ever had betting wise and I think one of the main reasons is because of this.

I like to keep a notebook for each sport and some of the things I see and read everyday while I am betting or at the forums. Then I go back 1-2 times a week (at least) and read it. The information I wrote down from last hoops season has come back to help me alot so far this year.

For example not specific things about certain teams but more about from a betting perspective:

1. Saturday evening CBB 1st halves at books are way off as alot of books dont move them throughout the day while they are moving game totals and by evening middle oppurtunites are everywhere or just off numbers. This also happens alot througout the week but not as much. I have a list of books that do this.

2. First 1 minute of NBA halftime betting can be exploited as most books try to come out with the first numbers and you see some off numbers and you can jump on the ones that are off. Be prepared for the 1st minute of NBA halftime betting. I have list of the books that do this.

3. You will win 54-55% of your bets beatting NBA dogs and beating the closing line by 1 point. Make an effort to line shop and time these throughout the day as NBA lines dont move much so finding off numbers are valuable.

4. NBA 1st half totals can be found in middle of the day at certain books as these books are alot slower during this time. List of what books.

5. Follow all steam in CBB totals. For over 600 bets worth of data I have won in the 56-57% range doing this. The sharps/numbers crunchers obviously have a better feel for these than the books. Books struggle with these and if you stay on your toes you can pick up alot of them between 6-7pm EST every night.

This is just a few basic examples of what I am talking about. I have tons and tons of other stuff. As you can tell it is more information that is catered to how I bet and may not be of alot of help to others and their style. Most of it is where and when to look for the best numbers as this is how I bet. You should obvioulsy try and do this to your own style. Nothing is earth shattering but writing down and reviewing it has helped me alot as I dont have the best memory in the world.

To some this may seem a little too much but I honestly think this is the reason I have done so well lately, as this is truly the 1st sport I have 1.5 years of solid info on (the others only 1 year). There is such a fine line between winning 50% and 55% so hopefully doing this squeezes a few extra wins out for me.

do you have pre/post new year for this stat?

i always thought the conventional wisdom was follow early...fade later in the year

i eyed (and hit) two totals based on fading 4 pt moves last night

Why don't we make this thread a "notebook"...everyone can put anything that they have remembered about betting and/or has written down.

One thing that I have noticed in coll. bball is..

As long as the % of people is not too highly on the home team(I would say less than 56% at wagerline) and the line goes from home team +1 to -1, take the home team.

2 recent occasions were...

vandy vs kentucky
marist vs loy. maryland (last night)

Everytime I see it happen, I guess i'll post it here..
