Just listened to Steven A. show about Jerry Jones

And the white guy that host the show with him(wtf is his name) brought up that maybe Jones is coveting Garret for future to avoid the having to interview and God forebid hire a black coach.

Steven A. disagreed,but hell never thought of that and makes me think?

He doesn't have to hire a black coach, just interview one. I'm thinking he's looking for Cowher in year 2010 when they move into their new stadium.

if phillips fails to take the cowboys to the sb next year, garret will be the coach in 2009...

I'm thinking Jones will ask Cowher to take over the team in 2010 when they move into the new stadium. If the Cowboy's have a bad year (let's hope) then Jones will want to make a big impact going into 2010.

you could definitely be right, i'm sure a lot will depend how the cowboy offense responds under garrett after the collapse at the end of this year.

I thought Garrett was going to be the coach in 2009 regardless. I heard that Garrett was going to be the OC for two years than be coach in '09 bringing in the new stadium and thats the reason J. Jones would basically match any offer the Ravens or Falcons put on the table.

you could be right ironman, i definitely think garrett and jones have discussed who will replace phillips (most likely garrett). however, it can't be set in stone because of the rooney rule, there will have to be some sort of interviewing process for the next coach.

also, it's hard to believe wade will be gone (fired) next year if the cowboys make a deep run in the playoffs next year, unless he has already agreed that 2008 is his last year behind closed doors.

I love the Rooney Rule.

Have some token black guy come in and interview for a job he has NO CHANCE at...i.e. Frazier interviewing for the Dolphins job...that guy was made a FOOL. If I were black I would go to the interview and put my schlong on the table and say "This is what I can bring to the table, Mr. Parcells."

Why should Jones be able to hire whoever he wants to coach HIS team?

There are plenty of black head coaches in the NFL now and definitely alot of assistants.

This isnt much of an issue in todays NFL.

The rule must be different if you're gonna hire within your own organization. Indy has already stated that one of the assistant coaches will replace Dungy when he steps down.
