I assume that most people are aware of this, but figure that it's worth mentioning. There has been a HUGE rash of Phishing emails which are made to look like they are coming from Wells Fargo(They are NOT!). Don't be a sucker. This is roughly what they look like:

Dear customer of Wells Fargo Bank,
Wells Fargo Bank is committed to safeguarding customer information and combating fraud. We have implemented industry leading security initiatives, and our online banking services are protected by the strongest encryption methods and security protocols available. We continue to develop new solutions to provide our online banking services and their customers with confidence and security.

The added security measures require all Commercial Electronic Office® customers to complete on a regular basis Commercial Electronic Office Form (CEO Form).

Please use the hyperlink below to access CEO Form:

I almost took the bait on one of these a few years back late at night. It was about my Paypal account. I clicked on the link and started typing my information. Suddenly I had a moment of sobriety and erased it all and closed the window. Close call.

Good thread TTinCO! There are many scams like this. Just have to make sure you never reply or click on their link. It will look like a Wells Fargo form asking for ss #, bank acct #, etc but it's just someone looking to info to sell or steal your identity. Just need to use common sense and you'll be fine.

Some of these are obvious, others can be a real bitch to see through.

Regardless of how real it looks, just don't click on any link that you get in an email-especially one claiming to be from your bank.

Not proud to admit, but I fell hook line and sinker for one about a year ago. Looked dead ringer and it said it was a suspicious activity one. And due to the fact that after the neteller debacle I cashed out many a check from books and they were from all over bumfuck egypt and had to look fishy so I responded to it. What a fiasco that was getting everything straightened out. Thank god I had the wherewithal to realize that it may have been a phishing email shorty after I responded to it and double checked. Who knows what they could have done. Had way more than anyone should in my checking account at the time.

I'm glad you admitted to doing this.. this has been going on since the early 90's.
Phishing made a lot of people a lot of dough.. or at least bought them a lot of nice shit.
