Esham Pickering/Sean Hughes under 9½ +2.06 PINNACLE

Friday Sky TV 3 p.m. ET

Esham Pickering lost to Hughes in a huge upset last time and is again favored to win this rematch for the British Super Bantamweight Title. Hughes is 14-6 with only 1 K.O. and has been knocked out 4 times. No doubt about it that Pickering got beat fair and square last time but he likely was distracted by outside factors and also did not take his opponent seriously enough.
This one is a championship fight and I believe that Pickering will have learned from his last and gain his revenge in a big way.

Normally I don’t like to side with the loser of the first fight but there are exceptions. I liked Tarver to beat Jones Jr. in that rematch and loved Manny P. to take out Morales in theirs etc. I just do not think lightning will strike twice and Pickering has vowed to end this one by knockout and I believe him and agree. The value on this one is too good to pass up on and I really believe it will end before the 10th round begins. Play: Pickering/Hughes under 9½ +2.06 (Risking 2 units).
NOTE: This one goes off at 3 p.m. ET today.

Hows this one doing ?

Jesus Soto Karass/Germaine Sanders under 9½ +2.01 PINNACLE

Friday Telefutura 8:45 p.m.

We find some very nice value on this total that has a great chance to easily cash for us. Sanders is 37 yrs. old and lost his last to Shamone Alvarez, who in turn lost his last to Clottey by unanimous decision. The 27-4 Sanders got knocked out in 2002 by Teddy Reid and right after that managed to somehow lose a split decision to Anthony Ivory (28-63-4).

Karass is one tough customer who comes to fight and throws lots of punches and they have bad intentions on them. He is still only 25 and has a somewhat misleading record of 18-3 with 14 K.O.’s. Sanders is going to try and run around and be careful and ‘cute’ in there but that strategy didn’t work so well against the ‘old-timer’, Reid, about 6 years ago and he is now 37 and the clock is ticking.

Karass is not going to be playing games or fooling around in there and I just don’t see how Sanders will be able to keep him off of him for 9 or 10 rounds. It’s a televised fight and the Mexican warrior, Karass, will be highly motivated to make a statement this night and he won’t do so by winning a boring decision against a man some 12 years his senior. It says here that this one will be over before the middle of round 10, which will get us to the cashier with a generously priced ticket to cash. Play: Karass/Sanders under 9½ +2.01 (Risking 2 units).

Ruslan Chagaev/Matt Skelton under 11½ +1.10 PINNACLE

Sat. 3:30 p.m.ET

The WBA Heavyweight Title is on the line from far away Germany this Saturday as the undefeated champion from Uzbekistan faces the U.K.’s Skelton. Skelton is a former mixed martial artist and champion kickboxer who didn’t take up boxing until he was in his mid-30’s, which is incredible! He is listed as 40 years old but most experts agree that he is likely older than that. He faces a most-daunting task and he knows it, too, if you read any of his quotes leading up to this. He has never been knocked out and that is likely why this total was set so high. He won his last by majority decision to the 30-10 Sprott in a very lackluster showing. In 2006, he lost to Tyson-conqueror Danny Williams. He got his revenge when he beat the out-of-shape 288-pound Williams by decision 4 months later. Unfortunately for him, this fight isn’t going to be in a UFC cage or in a kickboxing gym.

Chagaev is a very well schooled fighter who happens to be the champion of the world, or at least ONE of them and a well-respected one too. He ended the giant Valuev’s unbeaten streak with a polished performance and has 17 K.O.’s to his credit. Although he is not considered to be a one-punch knockout artist, I do believe that he has power and hits very hard. It is also very unlikely that the referee will let Skelton take too much of a prolonged beating. Of course, Skelton is as tough as nails but I believe the difference in age and talent will prove way too much for him to overcome. Chagaev is a huge 10-1 or so favorite but we will play this one to say under 11½ rounds at over even money, which is a bet I’d gladly make 1000 times in a row if I could.

I believe the chances are far greater that this one doesn’t make it to the ‘finish line’. Super value here in a heavyweight championship clash and I’d be shocked to see this one not cash. Play: Chagaev/Skelton UNDER 11.5 +1.10 Risking 2 units (Pinnacle)

Devon Alexander/Demarcus ‘Chop Chop’ Corley under 9½ +1.01
Sat. 6 p.m. ET PINNACLE

I believe but am not certain that this one will be televised on the HBO card this Saturday, but nonetheless it’s a must-play whether we get to see it or not! This is a classic youth vs. experience match-up as Corley looks to be on his ‘last legs’, which I hate to say because he’s such a ‘classy’ and good guy. Alexander has a very wise ‘team’ behind him and you can be sure that they wouldn’t have taken this bout if they felt that their young and future star was at a serious risk of losing.
Corley has now lost three in a row, including getting knocked out. I felt that he was ‘over-the-hill’ a while back and fighters are never usually the same after getting beaten up by Miguel Cotto, although to Corley’s credit back in 2005, he nearly had Cotto knocked out!

Alexander “The Great” is only 20 yrs. old and is undefeated at 13-0. This one looks like a coming out party for the young kid against a faded veteran; a ‘name’ to put on his résumé. As well, it is for a title, although not a major or ‘name’ one (‘WBC Continental Americas Welterweight).

I do not think Corley will have enough resources in him to last to the tenth round against this speedy and hungry young lion, Alexander. This one has ‘mismatch’ written all over it and we’re getting good value on this total. I do not see it lasting 6 rounds so we’ll gladly and happily take it to stay under 9½ Play: Alexander/Corley under 9½ +1.01 (Risking 2 units)

They finally graded these at Bookmaker.

Nice hit on Hughes under, then a loss for the Sanders under.

Still, almost a unit in profit.

I believe the other 2 fights are tomorrow night.

GL to both of us!
