Do you think this site has changed from a gambling to more a sports talk site

I think without a doubt it has. Not saying this is a bad thing either. Just an observation.

What I mean is there will always be talk about the games and the lines that go with them but overall I do feel that there is a way bigger focus on talking about sports (steroids, Pats perfect run, etc) than hardcore gambling topics (books, ways to win).

Wondering if others agree with this statement?

A few reasons I feel this way are: (in no particular order)

Maybe it is because 1) most of the gambling stuff has been hashed and rehashed on these type boards in the past. The crowd is smarter nowadays and has shared alot of inof. 2) alot less people are playing offshore so comparing books/lines just isnt as interesting as before. 3) I think most players have dropped their level of seriousness towards betting down a half notch the past year. 4) Throw in the fact I think the crowd is much younger than the past and they are more interested in talking everyday sports than everyday gambling (which may contradict #1).

I am not all saying the popularity of the site has went down as the numbers have continued to grow every month here. The site is growing daily and breaking records all the time. I just think the type of threads have changed alot in the past year. The more I think about it this seems to be the the norm at all the gambling forums I read. Maybe I am totally wrong. Was wondering if it is just me or have others felt the same way? Thanks for the feedback.

Posting IQs have definitely regressed to the mean in the last few months. Very few threads anymore are either entertaining or insightful. The college basketball forum has turned into a waste of my time. Too many posters confuse quantity with QUALITY. Good Luck

Totally agree Iceman, the entire gambling scene is in flux. If you can't gamble on sports most are at least comfortable talking about it, the transformation is still happening as the adaption to new restrictions has yet to be completed. It will not be as it once was until the movement of money is facilitated, until then the smaller fish are not as plentiful, some of those would have been eaten while others would have turned into profit driven gamblers with more intellectually driven questions. I would think this site is well on it's way to positioning itself for the upswing that will come, when is anyone's guess but i'm glad to see other revenue streams are in place so the RX can ride it out until then.

Haven't been involved in offshore for almost a year now..........so basically, just come here to stay abreast of the current affairs in and out of this country, recieve financial advice from Dawoofdaddy, and to stay in touch with friends I've met here through the years and shoot the shit on sports.

I do believe we have to get guys like you back in the game. Call it the Fishhead factor but it does seem there are less and less daily players out there who want to talk about the daily grind of betting.

I know it can be a huge pain in the ass moving money around but it is great stretchs like I am in now that makes this exciting everyday.

Do you plan on ever making a comeback Fish or are you officially retired?

The make up of offshore topics were definatly more on the hard core gambling side 5 or so years ago.

There was also a lot less traffic then too.

The industry was way different then.

Very good point. I think only the hard core bettors even looked at "gambling forums" or even thought there was any out there 5-10 years ago and when they found it this what they used it for, sharing gambling info.

I'm not so sure books don't pay posters to turn a board into shit. Or at least keep it off the topic of helping people beat them.

Believe me, gamblers do just fine beating themselves without the aid of any book...I hope you are just making a joke...A thought for you Holysmoke, all books here are full of degenerate bettors, it's just that we sometimes think we are smarter than the public because we have a little more info at our fingertips than the average joe...

A sharp forum that does nothing but try and beat lines and follow steam can cause books trouble, a forum that concentrates on farking chix on their period are a books dream.

If you follow steam religiously, you will not do very well because you will be laying bad numbers...these forums you are talking about will make you a smarter player but not necessarily a winning one especially if you don't have some sense of money management...top echelon books win every year, players struggle most of the time...

You must have missed the first part of my sentence that said try and beat lines and follow steam not just follow steam "religiously" <----- your word not mine

The great thing about this forum, is that there are some smart individuals here that make sense and continue to post useful info...and you can interact with anyone you want to and ignore anyone you want to...the books welcome forums such as these, hense all the banners at the top of the forum...signups at books are at an all time high and will continue to grow...recreational players betting 20 bucks a game, turn into bigger players down the road...and homers will always be homers!! This forum will continue to grow larger every year and the number of players in the offshore world will also increase every year...

People that really know their shit have almost zero incentive to post what they know (betting wise).

I made two bets in the playoffs the last two weeks. Both bets were on the Chargers ML. Last week getting 4.9-1.This week getting 6.2-1.

Why? Betting a quality horse in a two horse race and getting those odds dosen't take a brain surgeon. It took me all of 10 seconds to make my wager.
Thats all it is.The vegas line spread is basically a prop bet and for amatures.

Talking sports is fun."my team is better than your team" Oh yeah you wanna bet?

Sports talk and gambling go hand in hand.

You underestimate a lot of sharp individuals who post here..:103631605

Pat Patriot makes a good point that gambling and sports talk go hand in hand and some good time bantering between posters is fun...

I've only been around here for a Year or so...So I really can't say if this is the Norm or Not.....

But it seems to me that there are A Lot of " Fans " here....maybe some of you don't understand what I'm saying...

I have Found that in Sports gambling !! You Really Can't be a " Fan "

Some of the Bigger Bettors ( Sharps ) are not really a " Fan " of any Team. Because it Takes out the Emotion of Gambling.

There should be No Real Emotion in Gambling.....

Like if you are Let's say a Yankees Fan...Yanks are taking on Minny
If you Cap that game and it comes up Minny as the Winner
Is a Die Hard Yankees Fan going to Bet Minny ??? NO they will try to give a Reason or Find a Reason to Play the Yanks...OR maybe they will lay off the Game....Making you Not Bet that game...Minny Wins....You Lost out on a Bet !

The One Friend that I talk about on here sometimes, Always ask Who I like on some Games...If I say a New York Team..He then will ask me
Well is it Because you are a Fan ??? or did you Find something in there that you Like.

Now if you asked Him that same question....He would say ..Fan ??
I am not a Fan Of ANY Team....I'm just in it for the gambling !!

VD-
You make good sense about the shaprs that post here, but I do feel that because of so much of the bs that get's posted...sifting thru all of it is more tedious than just posting itself. I think that some of the true savvy posters here are sometimes reluctant to post worthwhile info b/c so many will just cover it up with junk

nonetheless, I filter and look for certain posters and read anything they have to say, knowing it is most often pretty insightful
