Rotoworld says Cubs still after Bedard and Brian Roberts

Despite GM Jim Hendry's protestations, the Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers says the Cubs and Orioles are talking about a massive deal involving Erik Bedard and Brian Roberts.

According to Rogers' very highly placed source, Orioles owner Peter Angelos did shoot the deal down at the end of last week, but talks were back on again recently. Rogers believes the Cubs could send Felix Pie to Baltimore and bring in Marlon Byrd to replace him.

these talks have been going on for weeks... not sure what to believe anymore. Everyone denied a potential 7 for 2 swap between the Cubs and O's which would have sent both Roberts and Bedard to the Cubs... My guess is that they are still talking but nothing will happen

cubs are really going to piss me off this is there window to win this and next year. Fuke has this year before people figure him out. Lee and ramirez cant possibly be as mediocre as last year alfonso now has a year under his belt. If they dont make this deal there pitching is sub par at best and not having a leadoff man will hinder the whole lineup...like last year.

who are the 7 players besides Pie in this supposed 7 for 2 deal?

Baltimore would be stupid to give away Bedard without getting something really good in exchange...and i don't think Pie is worth that.

prob marshall gallagher one of the other OF's and some AA guys i actually havent heard a whisper of this anywhere else. Cubs never pull the trigger on big trades so i really give this a 90-1

Sitting here watching Comcast in DC after the Maryland game and the next segment mentions some kid playing overseas ball for Seattle has been asked to return and take a physical in Baltimore - Bedard's name was mentioned. Don't follow much in the offseason, so take it for what it's worth.
