after watching yesterday's sd/ne game, most notably watching rivers lead his team to the best of his abilities on bum knees and lt sitting on the bench wrapped up in a parka, i decided to make a post about lt being a little girl. if you can't go because of a bruised knee, atleast become the vocal leader of the team on the sidelines, in place of sitting on the bench having zero impact. if rivers would not have been able to go, he would have been standing on the sideline next to the field supporting volek (occasionally heading towards the stands to do some shit talking).

after watching lt all season, particularly the second half, lead his team to a great record and great victories, i was left completely disappointed in his effort in yesterdays afc championship game (biggest game of his life)

this post made in all lower case letters is a tribute to lt being a little girl

The guy has played in every game cept 1 since he was drafted in 2001. I have a feeling LT would have been out there if at all possible. Also, it was the coaching staff that made the decision not to play him... not LT.

Just things to consider.

Being a running back w/ a strained knee is much different than being a qb w/ the same injury....JMO

I just heard Phillip rivers had arthroscopic surgery on his knee last week!

louis Castillio said it was one of the more gutsy performance he has ever seen....and maybe a slap at LT.

Exactly. Ive had my share of knee problems too, and if its jacked up, you cant stop & cut on it. Just too painful.

he couldnt get any push so no way LT should have been out there especially when you have Turner/Sproles who are capable of getting the job done

so you just sit on the bench all game with your helmet on...ok...
thought maybe he could hang out a little bit and talk to some of the players on his team, giving them support. maybe i'm out of line here...but i don't think he did a good job leading his team in any facet

I can see both sides of it. He looked bad just sitting there on the bench like he was pouting. Then again, would standing on the sidelines acting like a cheerleader really have made any difference? I think at this level the players are already playing hard and don't need the rah rah stuff.

<!-- end page tools --><!-- begin story body --> <!-- template inline -->SAN DIEGO -- Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said Monday that he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee a week ago in order to play in the AFC Championship Game, and that he'll need surgery on the torn anterior cruciate ligament in the same joint.

Rivers made it through Sunday's 21-12 loss to the perfect New England Patriots despite the damage to his knee, which he sustained in an upset win over the Indianapolis Colts a week earlier.
Rivers said he'd like to have surgery as soon as possible on the torn ACL.
"It's gone," he said. "I don't know exactly the details on that. I'll be ready by training camp."
Rivers said he had arthroscopic surgery a week earlier to clean out damaged cartilage.
"It wasn't real extensive, but I mean, really that was the only way I would have had a chance to play by doing that on Monday," he said. "I thought maybe I could come back in the Colts game but it was catching. That's what we did on Monday to give me the chance to play on Sunday."
Running back LaDainian Tomlinson said he's not going to need surgery on the sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, which he originally hurt in the Indianapolis game.
Tomlinson carried only twice Sunday, both in the game's first drive, and caught a short screen pass the following series before retiring to the sideline for good.
Tomlinson said he'll probably sit out the Pro Bowl.

I am more disappointed in Marvin Harrison. This bum was a game time decision all year. He was clearly too scared to play. Yeah I had him on my fantasy team and am a little biased but after he didn't comeback after the bye week I gave up on him and figured he just isn't the type of the player who has the heart to play a little hurt. So I picked up Greg Jennings won my fantasy championship without him.
