My 2nd pet peeve:

Matchbook's website can sometimes visually display 1 cent off in commission or total profit. I contacted them, and they understood where I was coming from and said they'd forward to the relevant department. Not sure if they are going to do any changes, though.

Let me show you what I'm talking about with 2 different snapshots I saved (and even shared to Matchbook live rep).

No matter how you slice it, $43.64 subtotal (if it's really rounded off only to 2 decimal places) should have a 2% commission of $0.8728, which is 87 cents as they did display it correctly.

However, $43.64 - $0.87 is NOT $42.76! It should be $42.77.

Same here: $79.17 - $1.58 commission ($1.5834) = $77.59, *NOT* $77.58.

Those 2 instances happened in the same day, obviously, and I realized I have seen some other instances where 1 cent is off (in both ways, it appears). So it's not Matchbook trying to "penny pinch" each customer with their 2% commission + 0.01; just bothersome when the display is an eye-sore with wrong total results.

Looks like the scalping is going well :)
Yep. After a mixed beginning with several failed scalps where I was left on the wrong side through a live-betting game, I have figured out some guidelines for myself to follow. After I had SD on the wrong side of the scalp on Jan 20th, this is what I have done the last three days in every live-betting game possible. I love holidays (4 games yesterday) or simply any TV games, heh.

I hope to keep it up (with some expected failed scalps to happen when holding the wrong pick without a chance of recovery).

I don't mean to bump this but yet another scalp success in the MICH/WISC game in the 1st half alone at Matchbook.

Early on, I hit: MICH +17.5 -121

Then, when WISC led by 10, I hit again: MICH +17.5 +124

When MICH got back to within 4 or so, I hit WISC -17.5 +147 (I could have waited a few more minutes, but nah, not too greedy).

Guaranteed profit of $51-$52 either way if I don't bother to play the 2H playing both sides again.

Calvin, I've noticed the same thing, sometimes I lose a penny and sometimes I gain a penny. I think it is more likely the computer retains your balance to 4 figures and corrects when you go under/over the $0.005.

Looking at your example the profit on $95.36 at +107 is $102.0352 so if your existing balance was $xxxx.yy97 or less the $0.0052 added would come to $nnnn.0149 and the $0.0052 rounded up to 1 cent on the profit line would be lost in your final total balance since $0.0149 is 1 and not 2 cents.

Trust this makes sense since I'm 99.9% certain this is the explanation.

Basically, I try not to make the first bet PRE-game unless I am actually already on a pick through a "normal bet". For example, I think Tenn -4.5 will cover at Ky so I did get it before the game.

Most of the time, I find that the 1st half is a great half to try to get both sides in the half; either I complete the bet of another side near halftime/halftime/shortly after halftime. I rarely let my open scalp to remain open deep in the game. The exception was that Cavs game because I really felt the Cavs would finally pull away against the miserable Heat. I think I finally closed that scalp in early 4th quarter or such. I didn't watch the end of that one, I think, but I like it when I don't have to worry about a last-possession shot (like the Tex vs Okla St game).

Also, oftentimes, I learn NOT to add to my 1st bet because that's how we get doomed getting higher +++ but not seeing it become the winner at all.

I'm sure I have more in mind, but I'm getting ready to see if Tenn comes to an early lead then I'll hit Ky +4.5 +180 or whatever it is at that point. Then I can keep scalping the game if I want to.

Cheers,

I can imagine the feeling. I just posted some guidelines in the earlier post, but one thing I have learned is to "quickly take the odds you see/want" than to "wait for a better number" especially when you are getting a number that would give you profit anyway.

Good luck,

Thanks for the explanation, Woody0. It does seem that to be the cause as it's carrying the decimal place to 4 digits; it just throws their display out of whack and can only give them more burden on their Support to field those calls. Might as well just round out EACH transaction to 2 decimal places before doing any additions/subtractions/multiplications, etc.

I got TEN -4.5 -118 pregame.

I see KY already at +4.5 +147. I'll lay back a little bit to see how this 1H goes as it's still 14 mins left in 1H.

CalvinTy-
2nd half thoughts?
kentucky +160
Tennessee -170
FYI, I hit KY +4.5 +210 at MB when Ten went up by 10 for a $30/$29 profit in the 1H.

As for 2nd half, I see more of the same from the 1H. I still think Tenn will cover -4.5 for the game. Since they are up by 6, I'd not bother with any 2H ML, IMHO.
