Anyone file taxes yet??? Can't wait to take one up the....

Got all my paperwork together yesterday and it is sitting in a big pile on my floor ready for me to tackle it. Guess I'll start tommorrow.

I'm still waiting for W-2's and 1099's. I know I've given the IRS a tax free loan but I always get a nice refund back.

Can you go ahead and file if you have an online copy of your W-2's or do you have to have the real deal?

I would imagine that if you believe it to be the correct info you can start without a hard copy.

If you're filing online then an online copy is good enough; don't know if you're filing by mail.

I want to file as early as possible this year (I have an online W-2, but not all 1099's from all mortgage companies yet).

But with this talk about tax rebates, and how Congress is hoping to finalize this tax rebate plan by March 1st, does this mean that it won't be implemented by the IRS? We would just get a paper check in the summer just like it was in 2001 or so?
