One thing I have always wondered is why don't killers today leave their gun at the scene of the crime like they did in the mobster days? I mean as long as the gun is not in your name and your DNA or fingerprints isn't on the weapon then there is no way they could trace it to you. The homicide detectives would basically have a useless piece of evidence.

I watch CSI occasionally, therefore I am an expert on criminology.

Kidding aside, today's technology is probably too crazy to bother. You breathe on a gun they find a way to trace that shit back to you. Doesn't make much sense to leave it at the scene when they could dispose of it somewhere else.

My thinking is this... After you kill somebody with an unregistered gun. It has no further use for you or anybody else. Therefore your least amount of risk is to drop the gun on sight. (provided) that you used gloves handling both the gun and its ammo.

I mean anything can happen on your to disposing the gun. Say you get in a car accident or pulled over by the cops for a brake light being out. Every second that gun is in your possession your risks of getting caught increase.

What part of the movie inspired you to write that post? "Leave the gun take the cannoli."?!

I know that is one of Wil's favorite lines . :)

It could be when Michael shot McClosky and Tatagalia in the restaurant.

Yep that's the scene.

I try to watch the trilogy once a year. My own copies are the remastered VHS double cassettes. They still work fine no sense to upgrade to DVD quite yet.

I never had much interest in the Godfather series until my dad randomly gave me a copy of the first movie. He is in love with the "Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me" quote. I dont know if he is trying to tell me something or what.

I still think Godfather II is the better movie. In Godfather I Vito is clearly passed his prime and his only source of influence is out of respect and the judges that he has in his pocket. Sonny is out of control and Michael is still green.

But in Godfather II We see what Vito was made of and Michael becomes ruthless. It is watching two movies at the same time set in two different time era's. Two tales of revenge.

Leaves one less piece of the puzzle. If there is no weapon at the crime scene it means they'll spend resources trying to find it, which means a little less resources spent looking for you. You could also use the weapon to frame someone if needed.

Say you get in a car accident or pulled over by the cops for a brake light being out

Make sure your vehicle is roadworthy and don't break the road rules. Around here, unless you are driving something that is modified or a shitbox then you won't have anything to worry about. There's also no reason you can't dispose of the weapon quickly afterwards somewhere much tougher to find than next to the body.

When Mike left the compound, he was in the car with two of Sonny's bodyguards. When he got to the hospital, after dinner with Kay, they were nowhere to be found? Didn't go with him.

I am finishing up watching the trilogy right now. I don't care what anybody says it is a damn good movie. I know Sofia Coppola can't act for shit but her and Bridget Fonda did look pretty f uckable. Plus the trilogy couldn't have had a more perfect ending with Michael dying alone in the wheelchair.
