I go thru this a few times a year when I chat briefly with people I know about betting. I tell them that there has never been a bettor who has got into any legal trouble from betting offshore. I talk about poker and how alot of people are playing. I also go in-depth on how all the "action" takes place out of this country but after all this it doesnt come out really well and I still get funny looks.

Do any of you guys go thru this? How do you handle it? I would love to have 1 solid answer I use all the time. Looking for any suggestions. Thanks.

My illegal activities are my own personal doings. Hint: when you're involved in illegalities dont tell anybody and you won't have to answer to no one.

So what about poker players? All of these so called pro's are in magazines and all over the internet with all sorts of personal info, talking about doing this for a living. Winners of online tournaments have been as high as I believe a million dollars.

You havent been talking to a few buddies about a particular game and who you bet on it and the discussion gets into betting offshore? I have this conversation 5 times a year minimum and the next question almost everytime is that illegal.

I still believe we are still years away from this being even close to accepted by society and I dont mean so much as accepted morally but accepted as people doing it that over the net than with a bookie. I am talking more about the average everyday bettors. I think because we are forums and talk to people daily on here we sometimes forget that most people do not place bets over the internet.

I try not to associate myself with people who don't gamble, drink, or do drugs. 2 out of 3 is the minimum requirement to be associated in my circle.
That completely alleviates any moral questions that come my way.

I still haven't found a good reply for those that ask why I start nonsensical threads on a gambling message board for no apparent reason. How do you deal with that one junior moderator?

almost everybody breaks some law almost everyday. If you drive, you break laws. Exit a highway, the speed limit is 25mph on the exit ramp, everybody goes 50 mph.

SAN DIEGO, Jan 24 (Reuters) - World number two Phil Mickelson was delighted to shoot a sub-par score in his first PGA Tour round of the year at the Buick Invitational on Thursday.
The American left-hander, a three-times champion at Torrey Pines, carded a two-under 70 on the North Course to end a day of sunshine and showers five strokes off the pace.

"I am feeling a lot better," the 37-year-old San Diego native told reporters. "I've felt better than I have in a long time so the last two days have been good."
Mickelson's first start of the season had been in doubt on Monday when he was confined to bed rest and antibiotics by his doctor after struggling with shortness of breath and fatigue.
However, his condition rapidly improved and he was able to play in Wednesday's pro-am.
In his first tournament round of the year, he reeled off three birdies in five holes to reach the turn in two-under 34 before covering his back nine in level par.
"I probably didn't play as well as I would have liked but I was able to get up and down and salvage some pars," Mickelson said after finishing five shots behind pacesetting American Troy Matteson.
"It's fun to get started. I thought the golf course was playing pretty tough because of the temperature being cold and the wind was up, but I'll take under par to get it started.
"It was tough to score just because it was cold and a little windy and the pins were tough to get close to because the greens were spongy," added the three-times major winner. "But there were a lot of low scores, so it's not like it was unplayable by any means." Mickelson won his first Buick Invitational title in 1993 and followed up with further victories in 2000 and 2001. (Editing by Peter Rutherford)

I always tell them it is not illegal to gamble online, just illegal for the banks to move your money. But they do it anyway and aren't too concerned about it for the most part.

I still have not seen anything that says it is illegal to place a wager.
Yet I would be scared shitless if I had to report 50K of income from gambling to the IRS.
