Kurt Cobain at 12?? Give me a break. I understand the legend and the importance Nirvana but Cobain is not a top 200 guy.

I'm not much of a Santana fan but he is a top 5 without a doubt.

Kirk Hammett's sound is easy to spot but he is no top 20 of all time.

Vernon Reid is a top 20 guy for sure

hey douglas, glasses buster, and mama say hey!i think they may get on the internets this weekend

now if we could just get someone to delete this thread before it causes all kinds of problems on here today...it is no secret that rolling stone has been suffering from low readership for a long time and stuff like this is this reason,(and rating yoko ono's album with the highest score they give)

THEY ARE IRRELEVANT!

Good post

Their greatest of alltime lists are all about shock value, nothing more. I think I know music pretty good and I would rather listen to someone pissing on a snare drum for a hour then listen to anything Yoko ever recorded

Brock

Slash is a top 50 for sure

Regarding the late George Harrison..

George Harrison's 1971 triple solo album "All Things Must Pass" is today considered a masterpiece. Hit singles "My sweel Lord" and "I live for you" are classic George Harrison Slide guitar numbers.

---

Natrually a list like this is bound to be controversial because everyone has their own taste in music and that includes guitarists.

One of my personal favorites by Carlos Santana is the song Soul Sacrifice - which his group "The Santana Blues Band" performed at Woodstock and is a highlight of the movie that the concert spawned. The song featured a drum solo by 20 year old Michael Shrieve that is notable.

wil..

PS. Take into consideration the list is from 2003..

hey i love the beatles and harrison's all things must pass as much as anyone, but as a pure guitar player, you can count his solo's that were memerable on on hand. Clapton played guitar on While my guitar gently weeps..
